    What's that NOISE????!!!!!

OK guys, turn your ears on! Turn up the volume! What in tarnation is this NOISE during the turns??!! It ONLY makes the noise with my new super-thin hardened stainless steel turnfin. I can turn the noise ON and OFF just by swapping fins. The most pronounced noise is at 47s.

It's the boat and all it's hardware cutting threw the water. I hear it on the straights also, but it does get louder in the turns from the fin,, you might want to try the thinner Titainum fins from Randy R in Canada

Thanks Chris. The odd thing is that it doesn't make any audible noise with the aluminum fin. I wonder if the SS fin is resonating when it is cutting through the water. Does steel have a lower natural freq??

If you are worried about it run a support from the body to the fin see if that helps but I just think your motor is very quite !

LOL. I'm not worried about it. The boat absolutely rips and holds speed in the turns. I think your support idea would tame it down for sure.....but I still don't understand what it IS?!?!

It doesn't really do it justice in the video. It sounds like one of those silver bullet blenders vaporizing water on the way around the turn. It's kinda cool.

It could also be the sound drop for the fighter ship Darth chases Luke with in star wars.

Maybe that fin cuts such a crystal clean swath out of the water that you can hear it resonating. It's super thin for how rigid it is. I keep waiting for you to leave it on your table unattended. Just say'n.

Nice description of the noise. You can sure paint with words.

I have nothing of technical substance to add here, except I agree that it is resonance...but I LOL'd at this.

I just watched that video again. It's almost like it gets to the end of a rubber band and then gets flung back the other way.

Ya know..........if that noise gets too bothersome you could just leave that fin unattended on your table and the sound will go away.......like magic..........just say'n.

                        LOL Terry,

I like it, and the boats running like a raped ape. Leave it alone.

My ul1 used to make that noise sometimes. I always thought it was the Teflon spinning in the stuffing tube. Curious....

Sounds like a car drifting on asphalt, but it's probably the turn fin fluttering and making a audible vibration. The brace will probably cure it.
