I know but, it's a tad cheaper direct from Castle with my 50% off coupon. I can also get connectors at the same time and they ship to Canada where as some Ebayer's don't ship to Canada or charge an arm and a leg plus taxes up front even though it's "parts" not a complete model but, thanks! Steve also sells them at a decent price.

      Well Fellas,

It's been a while since this post and I just keep hitting dead ends. I was looking at the SWORDFISH 220 without data logging that can handle 8S but OSE is out of stock and has been for a while with those cause it is in my price range. I'm just having fun so i'm not trying to break the bank if you know what I mean. I have had an adventure with trying to find a SeaKing 130HV V3 that keeps hitting dead ends. I looked at the XL2 but am not sure how big it is, that is a concern on top of I haven't been in the "MODIFYING ELECTRONICS" game that in depth so I don't want to blow up anything cause that would cost me more money which is the reasoning for the ask of suggestions. I know you can make some mods with the SeaKing 180 V2 to run on 7s but I must say I'm a little skeptical.

Any suggestions or does anyone out there have a solid ESC I can run up to 8s on they are trying to part ways with?

T-180 aka hobbywing seaking esc can handle up to 8S, only mod needed is capbank...set esc to auto detect..turn off LVC... I know of numerous people doing this with good results. If your in fear of the magic smoke then I really dont suggest doing this.... DJ

Just get a sf 240 and be done with it. very, very robust esc. Castle discontinued their boat escs btw, you can still find em but I wouldn't. Over here we have multiple boats running sf240/300s, with 300s allowing for 15,000+ watts in some setups.

Its a big bulky esc, but the 240 isn't so bad. You very rarely hear of a smoked sf240 and its usually user error.

As mike said the sf240 wold be a great option, but I personally would lean towards a Etti 220 hv.... Maybe even the etti 120 hv !!!!!! I have totally abused etti 220 hv and 150 opto. I never came close to having a problem with them.

Do not run the t-180 on 8s no matter who tells you to.... we have ran 7 s Maxxxxxxx this is its breaking point. I don't care how many caps u add it won't keep it in working condition long.

Most important everyone is giving u advice on controllers without knowing what boat you plan to run along with setup. This means all the difference in what you should be looking for !!!!!!!!!!!!

He's running it in a 37" shocker with a 1521 1860kv d wind. I've been running the T180 on 7s with temps under 110 degrees and I've been going up and up on my props. I may find the breaking point. I'd be a little skeptical putting it on 8s but maybe shorts blasts rolling it throttle with a cap bank and a external bec it may work. Are you saying you had it fail at 7s?

7s has worked fine, running higher may work but it might not. Thats 7.4 volts above what it should be so its like eh, might as well get another esc instead of burning one doing something its surely not mean't to. I'm not sure how long a seaking will last on 7s, imo an anti spark and a few caps might decrease the abuse.

I think the etti 220hv would be a sick controller in this boat. I would never tell someone looking for an hv controller to buy a seaking and then over-volt it as its not exactly the best option. Nothing sucks more than having perfect water, a few other boaters, and burning because of equipment failure.

Looks like these guys have one, Steve at OSE can probably get one too, I just checked the online store here and looks like none are in stock. If you're unwilling to wait to get one the sf240 would be your best bet just look closely at dimensions to make sure it'll fit!

Its a big esc, I have put twin 1530s and sf300s in a 43" hull without a problem I don't see why you wouldn't be able to fit a smaller, better configured esc.

Map should have them along with astec model's in UK. Both are great to deal with. The only thing is if you need some thing asap then go.with the sf240. As said earlier I would definitely go with the etti if you can wait a week or two. You can even ask Steve here at ose to get you one he can get u one. I imagine he would jump on it pretty quick as usual.

Don't get me wrong the sf240 is awesome but the etti is a much smoother esc and runs much cooler. With the etti 220 i have pulled over 400 amps and 15kw for multiple years with no problems.

The Etti HV 220A Opto ESC is an excellent piece. A bit of a pain in the A to program but so far seems to be a rock solid unit - http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=etti-E065
Steve is out of them at the moment but I'm thinking one can be found elsewhere if you can't wait.
