Everything was hot to the touch

My Bacardi Silver Genesis was burning up after I finally got it back in water since the turnigy 120 esc burned up in it and I basically started over. I was running a tp power motor with a 180 seaking esc, 2 x 2s 5500mah 60c with a octura 642 prop. I'm not sure this batts are what I can run with this set up or for that matter the prop, the boat was doing well over 50 mph but I only ran it about 3 minutes before bringing it it and had a look see to see if it was hot, the motor was to hot to touch. Everthing else was hot but not like the motor. Not sure how the water pick ups were doing, but I built the seperate.

Exactly what motor are you running? Without that information we really can't help.

Sorry tp 4050 1510 kv , timing set at the 3.7. Oh and those are dean's connectors, Idk what the problem lies

That prop should not be heating up a 1510kv motor on 4s too much, check for binding in the driveline. Are you allowing enough gap between the drive dog and the strut for the flex to wind up and shorten under load?

Although it should not be highly loaded the motor will heat up if run with no cooling, can you blow easily through the cooling system?

Are the batteries up under the deck? If so moving them back nearer to where the trays are may help, It looks like the CoG may be too far forwards making it run very wet.

How sure are you of the prop size, motor KV, and cell count? An X442 only has enough pitch for 55mph with 1510kv on 4S, and that is assuming 4.2v/cell, 100% motor efficiency and 0% prop slip, none of which will happen in the real world. I would expect the top speed of this gear to be well under 50 mph even in a perfectly setup hull, not well over.

I find that it is strange an 1510kv motor on 4s would go more than 50mph. Are the specs correct?

He said it's a 642, not 442. Regardless, you'd be hard pressed to get over 50mph with barely over 20,000 rpm I think.

Yeah I had the batts in the trays, prop was x642. All specs are right. I'll have to test cooling lines and drive line later today. I didn't gps it but it was way faster than the stock set up it came with.

I can't tell fom the pics, but you should turn the motor water jacket so the top/front outlet is all the way up, and make sure the water enters at the bottom/rear of the jacket so it forces all the air out the top and fills the whole jacket with water, otherwise you're just pouring a little bit of water over just a portion of the motor. Also, I wouldn't expect much runtime out of that batt setup. If you have the means you will get better time and performance out of (2) 4s packs in paralell. I suppose it's also possible that your motor is not loaded enough for those low rpms, may want to try a 45-57mm prop, though with a narrow hull like that it may not handle as well. What you have sounds much more suitable for 6s.

I have the cooling lines set up that way, I need to turn the one on top up though. I have two 3s 5000mah 50c venoms otw so i could just wait and try them as well. I can change the batt conn to 6.0 bullets. I have a a pic of the props I have, which one should I run? Thanks for all the responses guys

IMO; I would get a cheap IR thermometer . $15 aprox at Harbor Freight. !60 feels hot but is safe. All IMO; Don

The motor was so hot you couldn't keep your finger on it, over a 100 I'm sure of that.

My castle motor gets up to 140 pretty regularly during the summer. I can't exactly hold my finger there indefinitely after a run.
                            Not a big deal.
160 or so I would start being concerned. But that's just me.
Get a temp gauge like said above.

I will, anybody have a response on my prop selection? Which should I keep and what to sell. I have a 1/12 hydro miss bud and another miss geico otw all need props. I think a lot of the larger props can go, any ideas welcome
