I just recently bought a intruder mk11 hull. I want this boat to be capable of 100 mph. The set up I was looking at was a TP 40x100 7500 watt motor, a 240 castle ice ESC on 10s lipo with a sharpened and balanced x445/3- blade prop. Will this get me there or do I need to change my set up?

Lots of folks want their boat to go 100 mph, but few get there. I do not know if the Intruder hull is capable of that speed, many cats can not stay on the water at those speeds. Most use twins, although I have set a few SAW records with single drive cats. You don't state the Kv of the motor, that will determine if you have any chance at all of reaching 100 mph. The prop will not get you there, not enough pitch. I'd recommend a Prather P-40 steel prop and a motor with a Kv around 1300/1400 to start on 10S. (The ICE240 won't work on more than 8S.) That setup - when optimized - should get you into the 90s if you can keep it on the water. More prop pitch will do the rest, just don't do more than two passes and bring it back in. Be prepared to crash and repair, so make your build strong.

imo a neu 1527 or 1530 will be a better choice. I've run twin 1530s and they're awesome motors, freaky how much power they put out for their size.Comment

There is nothing wrong with the TP motors, they are not Neus but they have set SAW records - a 6S catamaran record in fact. But what is the Kv of the OP's motor? That is what really matters - yet he won't tell us what it is....
I don't know what current ESC to select, I've had great luck with CastleICEs but they are no longer made. If you could find a HydraICE200HV that would work if you are careful. Some swear by Swordfish, some swear at them. On 10S you don't need a 300 amp controller.

Sorry fluid missed the question about the kv rating. The motor is rated at 1440kv. And I will post pics of the bottom when I get home to dayComment

1440 + 10s? probably not a good idea. Thats some wicked rpm for a single. On 8s thats STILL a hot setup imo, but could probably survive if well made. I'd run on 7s a bunch of times then move up if everything checks out. Nothing wrong with TP motors I have had a lot of them.
Swordfish 240 is a fantastic esc and not just for the money, its just a good esc. Swordfish 300 is good too I think you can run either of them. I'm more of a twin-setup person and don't really know how things load up with a single, but I do know that 10s with 1440 kv is a setup even a few Bud Light couldn't convince me to try in a single.Comment

The boat and motor combo that I have built was set up by Chris at fine design marine. He told me that the boat is capable of 65+ on 6s, 80+ on 8s and 100 on 10s. And I just installed a 300amp ESC from FDM. I wanted another opinion from some guys with a lot of experience. Before I go and let this thing rip. Chris assured me that it would do a 100 with no problems from the motor or the ESC.Comment
