Thank God I'm not the only one to mess up. Two weeks ago on my 4s2p set-up I actually plugged the + and - of one battery together. Everything was polarized, just too many wires all with black heat shrink on them. Actually, the polarized wires made it easy to do. I'm still beating myself up over that.
BTW, anyone want to buy a battery?, so I hesitated and did not proceed!

I was cleaning the grease off the end of a cable going into the coupler, paper towel with nitroclean on it, batteries in the boat, the towel touched each end of one of the batts and went up in flames and flew out of the boat!!! yikes the flaming towel was floating around my garage, till I got it on the ground and started to stamp it out with my ........plastic crocs!!! yeah pretty stooopid!!!We call ourselves the "Q"Comment

This type of thing is unfortunate, especially because I can read the quoted text above and know exactly who the other "boat dealer" is. I wouldn't be surprised if he mentioned "horsepower" in the discussion too...
Just curious, have you re-soldered it? I would not be surprised if it still doesn't work correctly. It's truly amazing how violent and immediate the connectors vanish into thin air. Found chunks of gold embedded in my hand.
Doing stupid things is truly annoying. When I did it I said " well at least I got that out of my system before the nats"

He might have been better off using that 'wire glue' we see on ebay. Then the resulting arc could have done a better job of soldering it.At the least it would have looked neater!

Aw come on guys...he probably has 4 gauge wire on his stereo and gold connectors with a non-conductive set screw that is actually making contact. That is a lot of current to go through those connectors. I'd love to know what the resistance is if you put a meter on it. I'm wondering if we have an efficiency loss calculation for this stuff! All kidding aside, at some point we'll have to make a good, bad and ugly section to help others.
Somewhere in my mind, I'm thinking they tried to solder with one of those battery powered units they sold on TV. I wish I could remember the name of it, but I'm sure several of you know what I'm talking about. Cold Heat? Maybe something like that.IMPBA: 7-Time FE World Record Holder "Don't think outside the box. Rather, refuse to admit that the box exists in the first place!"
