This type of thing is unfortunate, especially because I can read the quoted text above and know exactly who the other "boat dealer" is. I wouldn't be surprised if he mentioned "horsepower" in the discussion too...

Just curious, have you re-soldered it? I would not be surprised if it still doesn't work correctly. ESCs don't typically respond well to that type of treatment.

Come on really, this has to be some kind of joke!? When I started in rc I was 8 years old and my first attempts at soldering weren't perfect, but they were a thousand times better then this garbage. Now that was over 30 years ago, but I'm pretty sure my 8 year old daughter could do a better job now.

Most customers are great. I have in my own experience had a very small number (around 1 in 1000) that you wish never walked through the door. Even when you go out of your way for them, they will cause you grief. It sadly is just the way business is. Not something they ever teach anywhere you can get a "qualification" though either!

I can understand you not mentioning the name of the boat dealer, but in a case like this it might be warranted. At the very least they deserve a stiff kick in the b@!!s.

Omg . thats a tweaker special if I've ever seen one, or a prison special by arcing a 110 outlet. The last time I seen a mess that bad was under the dash of a car at the gypsy car lot . I bet my 3 year old neice could solder a better joint than that with her ez bake oven..

Yeah. This person just doesn't know what they're doing, plain and simple. OSE is a business however, so, if it was me, I'd send a photo of a proper solder job to the customer explaining just why *his* solder job doesn't cut the mustard. Now, for 'x' dollars I can fix the mess you made..... Not Steve's job to baby people through and fix the shoddy workmanship of others. The customer will learn through *that* experience.

My take..... There *is* no hobby shop doing the work. That is the work of a rank amateur. Anyone in the hobby business passing that off to customers is a door-closing case. An excuse made to try and dig out of the hole they found themselves in.

There are hundreds of videos on youtube explaining in detail how to solder. A bare 10mins of research is enough. As a know-nothing person myself a while back, this is what I did. Not the world's best solderer I admit, but I solder good enough......

That is literally the worst attempt at soldering I've ever seen. And that's their "100%".

That's a lot of Kv for 10s IMO too. I think we've already established that kind of RPM can work in the other thread but holy crap. Who wants to tackle all those little details as a rooky. Especially if your soldering skills are what we saw here. Talk about a recipe for disaster.

Fella mentioned, those connectors are too small. I would think this setup would be pumping out at least 6000 watts. That's a lot to ask of a 5.5.

Now that's funny. It's a visual thing, & I saw it happen in my minds eye as I read it.
I hope you can see again for the Nats too.
And the very best of luck to you in the Nats.

Thank God I'm not the only one to mess up. Two weeks ago on my 4s2p set-up I actually plugged the + and - of one battery together. Everything was polarized, just too many wires all with black heat shrink on them. Actually, the polarized wires made it easy to do. I'm still beating myself up over that.

BTW, anyone want to buy a battery?
