The ground has been leveled ready for the 8 meter X 20 meter slab.
The slab will be boxed & prepped on Tuesday, & poured on Thursday.

I've got some time off so I'll take a drive out to the lake & snap some more shots.

Far out! That is really great to see happening in Aus. In Perth, rc boating water practically doesn't exist. The WAMPBA club lake is a good one, not as big as yours Paul I don't think, but decent. Our lake is one of only two (that I know of) in the metro area where rc boating is allowed. Even there, the local council isn't exactly overjoyed to have us, and we always have to be careful to tow the line. We had a drivers platform, which got vandalised, and the council ordered us to remove and not replace. We also had marker buoys, which apparently got reeled in by hoons with fishing rods! We consider we're pretty lucky just to have our lake. Seems that rc boating is almost a dirty word over here. So, to read that a local council is getting on board with a local rc boating club almost fosters disbelief!! Looks awesome in any case! Good job with the govt funding and I hope you guys build even more from here. Gotta come visit!

That's deffinetly on my bucket list, to at least visit the land down under. Everything I've seen and read, it's a beautiful country.

Absolutely plan a trip. If you gat a few interested it would be cheaper to ship your gear out.

Or maybe we come up with some one design classes that you draw your boat you use out of hat each day to race.

Remarkably, it is not even the local council, but a department of the Queensland State Government that issues the grants.

Congrats! This is truly a wonderful thing to happen, visiting Australia is also my dream and as my cousin lives in Sydney. Now only if he agrees to store some of my boats!

Just an update
We had a practice day on Sunday & yes the slab was poured.
They will be waiting a couple of weeks before they erect the shelter though.

Well, we had our first race meeting under the roof of our new pit area on Sunday. A great success. Only 17 entrants, but there's plenty of space for our larger meetings.
Still a bit of groundwork to do around it but we have a working bee coming up to do all that.

Thank for posting Paul. The covered pits are awesome!! Makes life so much easier, no more levelling tables on the bank, or looking for prop nuts in the grass! Now I just need to convince Ash to install some stairs between the pits and my car

Absolutely fantastic.

It would take years just to get the approvals from all the necessary authorities having jurisdiction to build something like that here. Even if you owned the lake and the water.

Maybe I can convince my wife it would be fun to go to a race in Ql.
