    Government Grant.

Just thought I'd share some news about some good fortune that has befallen our club. The 'Pine Rivers Model Powerboat Club'.
Due to a lot of hard work from the guys on the committee, the club has applied for, & received, a grant of $27,720, from the Queensland Governments' "Gambling Community Benefits Fund".
The Fund channels revenue from gambling taxes back into the community through Sporting clubs & non profit organisations.

We applied for the money to build a concrete slab & shelter for the pit area large enough to accommodate all the members so we don't have to set up our individual gazebos & tents etc each race day.

Trevor Ruthengerg MP came out on our last practice day & presented the Cheque.

The builder will have the bobcat there on Wednesday to do the excavations & the slab will be prepared & poured in the following week or so.

This is going to be great.

    Cheers.
    Paul.

Thanks guys. I'll pass your good wishes on to the committee.

We may only have 30 or so members, but I think we are the largest all electric racing club in Australia.

Awesome, that's a good chunk of change.

Our club (Bay Of Plenty Model Power Boat Club) was really fortunate to get the use of a stormwater pond in a new industrial subdivision 4-5 years ago. The council contractors wacked up an awesome stand and we have a permanent course set out, a container for race control, house rescue dinghy, toilet etc, and prior to holding the NZ nats at easter we put in a hot pit area. The stand also has disabled acess with a raised area at one end as one of our members uses a wheelchair.
We are also currently looking into funding to put in permanent hot pit tables and to cover the stand and hot pits. This has given us an awesome venue and is well worth all the effort.

I've been trying to find a facility like this for our club, the county lake we're at now is nice but we're so limited on what we can do. No events, No permenent structures, Etc.

Just move down here (or Oz), plenty of room for new members, esp FE. Lol.
Seriously though I waited for over 30 years for this and it is due to the efforts of some dedicated boaters.
To Paul, best to you guys too.

That's deffinetly on my bucket list, to at least visit the land down under. Everything I've seen and read, it's a beautiful country.

Affectionately known as "Gods Country" down here.

I spent a month in New Zealand bush walking, or "Tramping", as Peter A & the rest of the Kiwi nation would call it. Absolutely spectacular.
So when you do head on down you must visit both countries. They are only a couple of hours apart by plane.
