    3s boats?

Has anyone had any success running 3s? it looks to be a popular voltage with planes and helis. packs and esc's are abundant and cheap!

a lot of micros run 3s that is what I used in my hydromite and that is what minicat racing recommends for their boats
check out DrJet's threads he is big into micros
The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.

James do you remember this boat when you came for the BBQ? its the blue one in the first pic with yellow lettering, this was a 3s boat its set up was a 8L on 2 11.1v 3000 mah wired in parallel, hacker master navy 99 esc and a y536 prop this thing blistered the water!

          a 7XL or 6XL on 3s would run good!

I'm testing a Asian 3s mono boat this weekend. So far its fast, but I cant keep the outrunner temps down. I now have a smaller prop to test out to see what that does.

I ran at the 2007 Nationals with 3S in P-Offshore... I was using a smaller hull (26"), so in order to not overpower it too much, I ran 3S with a Neu 1515 1.5D (2700KV)... Ran great!

I would actually prefer 3S over 2S... It's easier on cells and there are more motors in this KV range...

yes 25-26" would be better than my 29" under 3S!

Well... a 3S pack is 12.6V fully charged... and is 11.1 nominal... So, using 2700KV, I would figure the setup to be 34,000 max, likely more around 32,000 assuming a drop to 4V/cell under load... Nominal would give about 30,000 RPM...

Keep in mind, I was using this for an Offshore setup... and using 3S2P... Didn't even come close to stressing the system...

                      look at this and this
                      I know it's not incredibly fast but... it's a 2.5Kg 29" long with a 8XL and 3S2P (2x2600mAh in //) spinning a K40,5 at 60+Amp so there's room for speed again IMO!
sorry for the video quality I have problems to upload
