Are there more sites like this?

Hey are there any other websites like this?

When I built my helicopter, most of the sites had options that you'd select what you wanted to make a complete kit. So far this is the only site that I've seen at least a few options.

    Thanks for any help,

Steve Vaccaro at this site will do the same for you. Contact him with your requirements and he will be more than helpful in equipping whatever project you undertake.

Jim, you are on a site sponsored by OSE (Steven). It is not cool to ask for a competitor's site info. Do a google search and you may find what you wish. But be aware there are some bandits out there. OSE is top notch

Ok wow as you may have noticed I’m a newb…

I was asking a generic question as to if there were any sites (like the one I won’t mention again) that allowed the user to select a hull, parts, etc. and then have it built vs. building it myself.

I have been doing google searches but seem to keep finding misc. boat sites but not many that offered to build it for the customer as well (well at least for a decent price). Also the ‘be aware there are some bandits’ was another reason I thought I should ask first and have one of the experienced boaters lead me in the right direction, instead of finding out after the fact that I went with a bad dealer. I wasn’t aware that OSE had those options and thought they sold parts alone and did not build it for the end user.

Being one of the new guys I had no idea that we are not to talk about, ask about or reference any site that could be construed as the ‘competition’ and I’m very sorry I made that mistake. Lesson learned. Now I know this isn’t that place for this type of question I’ll make sure I don’t ask for this type of information again.

Thanks for welcoming me to the site Scotsman… made me feel all welcomed

I had first been looking at the BJ26, but although it’s a decent boat, I’d like to start with a boat that’s a step or two about that. I started with an Apache 24 (plastic hull) to drive around the pool and well the bug hit me. I have that little thing running around having a blast and since I live by a lake I thought I’d like to move up a few notches. The BJ26 looks great but I’m getting mixed feedback from a lot of people who feel that the SV27 is much better equipment and hull but I must admit I very much love the Cat style hull.

So after a bit of looking around I’m thinking in the area of minimum 26” to max of 31” (bigger is a bit better but also starts bloating the price as well).

            The breakdown is:

            Electric powered
            26” – 31” Length
            Catamaran Hull
            Brushless motor system
2.4 radio (seems like the right move for range & less interference)

The rest I’m not real sure what to get. I’d like to go with good parts vs. lower end stuff but again I’m so new I’m not sure what’s good vs. what’s not so good. I’m thinking in the area of $500 max without batteries, but again I’m not 100% sure on anything. Basically I’d like to get something that’s better than the BJ26 and is ready to go (good handling, better quality parts then the BJ, etc.). Something that can be upgraded later if I decide to.

              Welcome Loki.

Steve is a great guy and should be able to offer some insight. Excellent customer service, support, and incredibly fast shipping. Check the swap shop regularly. There are guys always selling their boats at unbelieveably reasonable prices.

Loki, I too got bit by that bug about 5 years ago and I've loved every single minute since. Welcome to the OSE board!!! Like these guys are saying, Steven is a great guy and a pleasure to do business with. Fast, accurate, affordable shipping. Answers his email almost as fast as an IM. Website store and forum are top notch.

I know Doug didn't mean to make you feel unwelcome in least bit back there. We ALL start out asking the new guys questions because we ALL start out as new guys in this sport. I don't know Doug personally but from reading his posts on here and another board over the years I think he's a good guy, knows a thing or two or twenty about rc boats, and genuinely cares for the sport.

This is really a VERY friendly board with knowledgable members who know how to build, race, and type. I'm glad you chose to go electric. Ask away!!!! I'm a mono guy so if you've got your heart set on a cat I'll let those folks take the ball from here.

Glad you liked my ideas, I am on the board too. Steve is a nice guy I would not want to piss him off or hurt his feelings. I have a board and answer a lot of question as time allows. It would be nice if there was a board that we all went to that was netural ground and be able to share. I would allow it on mine but no one really talks much there. I feel that it is a big world out there and there is room for everyone to make a living. That is why I have links and Steve does too I think ath least he did and they were some of the best.

Ok so I was pointed to this hull on another forum:

                              http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...=tp-jolly-twin

Is there something about this hull that I'm missing? Is this the Gucci version of Hulls (like the top dog of all hulls)? I was thinking in the area of $300-$400 for the hull, $600-$700 seems a bit much but then again I may be missing something very key that this boat hull has.

If this is the be all of Hulls, than I guess I'd also need to put some key equipment into it as you shouldn't put on the "Pic'n'Save" clothing mixed with Gucci.

Anyway just though I should ask.
