A little off topic for what you need in a motor but tp motors has released a new line, the 4070. It's 40mm x 100mm long but the cool part is the 8mm shaft. (same size as the Neu 1527) I agree the 4050 is the way to go. I bought one on the recommendation from somebody that knows how to make a boat go really fast. I was told the same thing about the 4060, it's to long to run reliably at high rpm, the centrifugal force causes the 5mm shaft to flex and good by motor. This isn't from my experience, just what was explained to me by a well respected boat builder here.

Fella, I too saw the 4070 motor, just wondering have you received it yet? I would love to see a picture of the rotor if its anything like a 1527 should be a sick motor.

Sorry, my wording was off. I bought the 4050 tp motor based on a recommendation from a member here for the same reasons posted about running the 4060 at high rpm. I plan on ordering a 4070 but haven't done so as of yet. The 4070 is the same size as the Neu 1527, no idea if it will perform like one. I just really liked the 8mm shaft given its 100mm long. The 4060 may benefit from the same treatment.
I believe ray has one in his possession, he was certainly the first person to get his hands on one.
I am very curious as to how it will perform as well! My apologies for talking things off topic.

So how does the 4050 compare to the castle 1512 or 1515 motors?

A 4050 is a bit stronger than the 1515 Trav, quite a bit I would say. I was cranking 5018/3's with ease with my 4050 1820kv's on 5s and 6s in the Shocker. I doubt that a 1515 would.

Sounds good. I just want to make sure I buy motors powerful enough to propel it to 90 - 100mph. I don't want to buy them twice. So I guess once I sell a hull I have I'll order a set of them. Then gotta figure out what props I need.

Disclaimer: Not everyone should expect these results from a budget setup blah blah blah "could toss a rotor" blah. If going with a twin setup I highly rec. click drives or perhaps the mhz drives. Having precision drives compared to budget ones, no comparison.

Now that we have that out of the way, a finely built boat with finely tuned props in a perfect environment may very well go as fast as Marko's 5009. Props are such a big part of it though dude, last week I was holding a 57 reduced to 50 next to a 447 and it was comical comparing the too, just like holding my dasboata reduced 465s to 60, to a 457.

I just picked up a pair of these to do a insanely over powered twin build of some kind, should be interesting! http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Psyclone...item337ce02bde
I also have one of the new TP 4070 1770kv coming for my Q mono I'll let ya'll know how that goes too! BTW go twin with the Shocker, even if it costs me the sale of the 1527.

I got the hull Friday. I'm not so sure I want to go twins on it. It really doesn't have the room to lay everything out like I want to. Also I've got alot of finish work to do to it to get it looking like I want it to. It's no tfl or fightercat hull. I dunno man. I can't make up my mind. I'm sending you a pm....

Btw, are those motors any good? Never heard of them.

IDK I'm gonna find out, They look like Tacons and I've got a pair of those in 4074 2150kv they run good. I had one in a Genesis and it was good for 71mph.

I know you guys are going to be disappointed. ..I bought a motor to go single. I bought a 1250 kv 1527 neu motor to run on 8s. It should still be a beast nevertheless. I just didn't feel like messing with a twin on this boat. I'll do a twin on the fantasm.
