My strategy was to get on the board of my HOA and be the "good cop", doing whatever he can to keep the neighbors happy. Many of the other unit owners bring their dogs and kids out to watch.

The only person who really complains about my RC toys is the board president (I'm the VP), but he's got nothing better to do than complain about stuff so it's expected. The fact of the matter is that there isn't diddle he can do about it besides complain so I just ignore it/him. The reality is that my being out on the pond keeps folks from fishing in it (we don't allow fishing as we've stocked the pond with algae-eating carp) in the evenings, which we'd been having a lot of problems with as the economy has worsened.

Being reasonable/thoughtful goes a long way (e.g. don't run your nitro boat at sun-up, wait until noon or so; etc).

I'm a kiddo (17) and most of my neighbors enjoy seeing my little boat, there is about 12 other kids (around 5-11 yrs) that come down to the docks so I I have not run into anyone having a problem yet in my neighborhood. Then again I am liked by most neighbors! There are a lot of 40-62 yr olds that are retired so I don't think I disturb them either, well unless I run after 7PM lol.
Why are you bothering me? I want to see your boat!

I have lived on a lake for most of my life, a few of them here in MI. I would say if it says "all sports" you are good to go, jet skis and speed boats bombing around and such. The lake I'm on now is private and electric only, been here 10 years and just got into fe last year. I was nervous about running my Revolt around (probably over did it last year) I was scared it would get put up for debate at the association meeting last fall. But after the summer most people I talked to on the lake said they enjoyed watching it run around, glad to see someone using the lake, or where can I get one! LoL I think no matter where you go you will have "fun police" I'll see this fall at our meeting after running my twin cat around....

Awesome replies fellas. You all are gonna think I'm crazy but now I'm looking for a boat. Yea, a full size one. There are lots of waterways here that I Could kd run in and the wife wants me to get one anyway. I'm looking for a small runabout something like a Tahoe q5i or something similar.

Is the lake big enough for full size boats where the house is? If full size boats run on it, screw em, run whatever and whenever at reasonable hours.

If you run oh, idk, 12 packs through that cheetah of yours starting from 6am onward ya some people might not be happy lol. If you get to know the neighbors closest to you, tell em its something you and your son really enjoy doing or something. Believe me that will go a long way.

The best thing is to find places without houses nearby. Or people for that matter. It can be tough. Some enjoy watching them, others don't. Just be cautious and aware of others. Other than that, if you aren't breaking any rules, keep doin what youre doing I say.

I found 2 lakes in a public park I heard about yesterday. They look really good to me . Here's the first one. Its pretty sheltered from the wind.

Here's the bigger lake right next to it

Nah its not big enough but for a little kayak or something. It's about 1300ft long. I live down here in the sticks where we have waterways and Bayous everywhere. If I had a real boat it would be no issue. I was just thinking about getting a house in this new neighborhood and the house I was looking at is on a lake. It would be great for testing and tuning. I find it odd how much trouble you guys in the states have finding places to play, any piece of water that is owned by the crown is game for us, not much is privately owned. Really can't even be shut down for noise before 11 pm.
I've run nitro boats in the lake right in the middle of downtown with no problems from the law.
Living in Cottage Country there are more places to run boats than any other type of rc vehicle, water every where!
Pretty much find a public boat launch and you can play without hassles.
Where in Cottage Country? Got a place on Sharbot Lake

Hi Rbsmith6, a bunch of us run in Peterborough, our usual group spot is just north of Trent U on River Rd.
I currently live in the south end of town, the Trent Severin runs at then end of my block, a couple blocks farther south I have a public boat launch I run from after work.
KFX I'm also shopping for a full sized boat, ball park 30', going to keep it on Lk Ontario. Port Hope/Coburgh are only 30 minutes south of me.
Those of us in the snow plowing business had a great winter, time to get a sailboat. Can't believe how much of a buyers market it is out there for used boats, I had been talking about 25-26 feet, started pricing boats in my budget range and realized I could step up to 29-30' and still be buying a good reputable boat. Currently eyeballing a C&C 29 well outfitted with a huge sail inventory.
I guess you ride too, I've got an old 1992 Kx250 2 stroker and a CRF250x. Almost have a vintage 1986 Ninja 600r ready to hit the road this summer. I wanted this exact bike so bad when I was 16! All it needs now is new rubber, install the exhaust and put the body work back on. Can't wait!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Here is where I run, unless the gator is around! About 212FT from the back door, it's Clear Lake, Texas. It's not very clear but it works!
