    New Catle 1515 Smooth can

    Just saw this:http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LNEBHZ&P=G
Wonder if just the can is changed? Liked the 1515 motor although didn't care for the fin.

    Someone please correct my spelling?

It doesn't look like an actual picture of the motor....more of a rendering.

        Thanks Joel,
I went on their site but could not find it. I have one ( finned, of course) in my Insane Mono 34 and it really screams!

Mmm,interesting. I wonder why the change. The ESC looks like the old MMM.

I wondered too, it sure is cheaper to have the smooth can, IMO.

It is a Sidewinder ESC, With about only a third of the amp handling ability of the Mamba Monster. To couple it with a 1515 is a disaster in the making.

Isn't this the big brother of the sidewinder. Says 90A max and 2-6s. Seems like a decent pairing for lighter 8th scale vehicles. Anyone find the price of the motor by itself?

Its not a regular sidewinder esc. Its a larger version called sidewinder 8th. Definately more robust than a regular sidewinder esc.

The whole package sells for $187. I am wondering why so low?? The 1515 motor alone used to cost $169 and that was with discount.
What cost cutting measure have they been taking??

Cost cutting plus lower profit margins. Hopefully it's more of the latter........must stay competitive to maintain market share.

possibly we are seeing what the real price should have been all along?
