Because some people don't know what they're talking about. Anyway I think you're better off with an hv setup in that boat.

IF it was mine I would do 8s a side, tp 5840L motors kv undecided as not sure of your goals. They're $170 bucks each and they perform very very well. The 1717 is a 6s motor and needs a 6s esc. Constant current will stay down a lot with lower kv/ higher voltage. Spikes will be very large with the 5840L motor (240 amps) so a swordfish 240 would be my personal esc of choice.

As for your question of a 72" boat with twin 5692s, granted the initial buy in for a 72" hull over a 50" thunderbolt isn't much but a 70" boat needs a lot of batteries, strong escs, etc. Staying under 60" is wise. Also you can't compare an expresscraft to an mhz or hpr 72" hull they're heavier and have more drag.

thanks for the insight. the 72 hull is the skater from classone now sold by rico racing. he's in my neighborhood. the expresscraft was done on 6s and I already have a need for 6s with another boat so that was why I had asked. I wasn't looking for anything insane, just a fun, larger hull that I could have to run on the intercoastal here in florida while I have my full size boat out. if I got the express craft or the 72" hull to 55-60 id be very pleased. I'll look into the tp motors that you suggested. I was trying to use what I already had but I could shelf them for a later boat or vuild another mean machine but do twins.

wow, that skater is really impressive. Never really knew much about rico hulls I am going to take a look now.

If you got the thunderbolt running 5s2p and seaking 180s with a big cap bank I think temps will be more than fine. Bill built his boat and ran WOT lap after lap I believe temps got up there but he said it was ok I think. If just running a sport setup the 1717 and seaking 180 will manage with 447 props. The boat will still go 50 on 5s2p for sure or even 6s1p with a dinogy or other powerful pack (6000mah pref.). So it can be done on a budget. Figure 500$ for electronics.

The big boat you have a lot of options, it would be sick with twin 2028s on 10s2p with sf300s, or perhaps modelbaupirate 300s. Both can and will handle this setup. Props control the fate of your electronics lol the big boat could start with 457s, all electronics had for 1100$ usd, minus packs of course.

That skater is drop dead gorgeous. I'll be going to see it this weekend and I'll be sure to snap pics. I may snag the hull next month. I'll also pickup a thunderbolt as well. I'm gonna try it withtethe t600 outrunner on 5s2p or 6s2p and turning 180The skater will probably take me a tear to build but I'm ok with that. My father in law owns one of the best body shops in my area and I'll have his guys do a killer paint job on both. Like I said I don't plan on racing and not looking for insane speed on those large hulls, just want a good running cat that's relatively tame to drive.
