I'll agree that the rear of the Cheetah looks like a helicopter landing pad so I (only partially) jokingly broke up the area with these :

    DSC03908.JPG DSC03911.JPG

When you're done laughing, consider that the Cheetah goes like stink on a single motor 4S2P setup and does really well in the turns, which will be an asset if you fun run with other boats (your buddies wont have to constantly wait while you retrieve your better-looking but cornering-challanged long/skinny rigs)

Mike's correct in that the H&M boats are really nice, but my multiple record holding H&M SAW boats corner like King Henry VIII

Edit : If you'll pardon my immodesty for once again posting this vid, here's my Cheetah pushing 60mph and running as good as anything that ever left my workbench: [TP Power 4060/CC-240/Dinogy 4S5000 4S2P/ Oct X447]

H&M website looks real difficult to order from, I also don't think they accept Paypal..I don't use my credit card online anymore, to many bad experiences.

You make some real good points proper chopper and thanks for the vid, that thing is crazy fast.

So when yall say these cool looking boats cant corner, that means it will just flip when you try to turn sharp?

I'm not saying they can't corner, just that they'll need to go slower in the turns than wider designs, to stay on their bottoms. Sharp, fast turns often result in performing charming "barrel rolls", at least in my experience. OTOH I've seen vids of many of Keith's builds (and some of his forum members) that corner extremely well 'tho this may be the twin motor rigs which have different turning-vector forces than single motor setups.

In all honesty I should recuse myself from this thread since I'm sooo Cheetah-biased. Of course my long/skinny H&M DrifterS is my choice for straightline competition. Then again I chose a MC for P-Ltd Cat oval racing over the more common longer-skinnier Geico/Mystic/BJ29 models and can corner on the oval with more confidence and less butt clenching

The H&M cats have a much more forgiving bottom compared to the DF and TFL cats you mentioned. They wouldn't keep up with a Cheetah in the turns by any means though. The Cheetah can be built to corner hard at or near full throttle, you typically won't do that with a scale-type cat...they're not designed to run wet enough to carve like the cheetah does.

DF cat, Daytona = Straight line
              Cheetah + Great ovals
The H&M would be the compromise between these two, and have the looks you prefer. If you really want something that will carve up the lake though, you'll likely have to give a little on looks and go with the Cheetah/Sprintcat/Mean Machine.

Thanks for the help guys. Definitely have a better idea what these hulls will do.

A 54" 26cc Gas boat fell into my lap yesterday that needs some tlc, so i guest my cat project will have to wait a little while.
