I just ordered a 4074 2200kv Leopard for my H/K Smash Shark to race next year. Had to get the matching water jacket and motor ring. All from OSE here. It's the best upgrade for your $$$ I feel. I think H/K do do a motor but I wanted something in the middle hence the Leopard.

I'm new to this too but at the end of the day RTR gear is good for running around but not race grade i feel.

Good question, you could give the aquastar 3974 2200kv motor a go. I was running one on 4s in a rigger until the motor mount broke out and bent the shaft making it useless. It will push a 442 all day.
I'm currently running a TP power 3640 2250kv in my pursuit, and race with that against gassers on club days, beats them a lot too!

I'm using this in both my boats - for the price it has been excellent.

I had the XK4074 2000kv motor in mine and on 4s with an X642 prop I was seeing just over 40mph.

My best suggestion, is run one cell count and buy a motor catered towards that. pick one

What is your goal and what type of running do you want to do?

This is comparable to a leopard from HK: 3974 2200kv

This is closer and faster possibly and better customer service: Tacon You can use a Leopard cooler.

For the best customer service and the biggest bang for the buck Leo 4082-2200kv: OSE! 1.5Y

Don't think just about HK or price, the motors Steve sells at OSE are specifically boat motors with air venting to aid cooling and a free cooler to boot. You couldn't get a better deal with his kind of service anywhere with the exception of maybe ML Boatworks, Keith Bradley boats and a few others that work hard and go the extra mile while supporting fellow countrymen.

If you want to run 4 and 5s I would recommend 1800kv motor. You would still need to prop accordingly though. I had a HK 4074 2000 kv in mine and later upgraded to a castle 1515 1y and the difference was really noticeable . Just remember its a 30-50 dollar motor for a reason
