    H&M 24" Hydro? anyone recommend a setup

    Hi Guys,

I seem to see loads of stuff recently about hydros and thought about choosing one as a winter build, i was wondering whether this could be built to run on 3s as i have loads of 5000mah 3s packs and seems a 6s hydro would mean building a 40"

any suggestions on motor size and kv? i have a spare M445 prop would this be too large?

For a 3s Hydro Mat, you would be better with Delta Force Vortex 22" hydro
I got a bare DF Vortex 22" hull for sale with a carbon inlay needs a bit of work, if you still looking.
I will buy the M545 off you if you dont need it,
why not a 6s popeye? Astecs got one in stock.
How about a 3s rigger, that will keep you on your toes, i know where there is a real nice one for sale as well, and its a H&M.

There is no reason 3S will not work great for the OP. Keeping the speeds down to 50 mph will keep that hydro on the water. The hull used as a base for the Stryker was known to get flighty if run much faster. Running 2S only means a higher amp draw, more stress on the ESC and shorter run times - I'd vote for 3S any time if you are not racing. Using the m445 a 3650 size motor with a Kv around 2500 will get around 50 mph. Running a smaller prop like an x442 will need a Kv around 2700 for similar speeds.

Fluid, what would be the estimated current draw of that setup?

I thought these had the same bottom as the Viper but it looks a little different. hmmmmm I like PAGS idea for 2s. That motor gobbles amps though.

I suppose 3s could work as long as you don't go crazy on props. Jay, what about upping the RPM and running even smaller props? My Vipers liked the 435/3.

I had this boat ready for Hydro1 class races (Naviga), with a 3700 kV 36mm can Leopard on 3S and with props starting from 32mm to 36mm. The speed is quite ok, amp draw was decent for the 6min race, but it is very wobbly and I could not tame it... so I went for a rigger.
The original H&M is quite heavy, I has mine made lighter by the guy that actually makes it for them, and it was a lot better.

thanks for your responses, ive done a fair bit of research and cant find anything too positive about this hull or find any decent running videos on youtube etc, i think maybe ditch the small hydro idea and go straight to either a ML GP335 or GP400 for a winter build, ive never built anything out of wood but quite like the idea and would like the satisfaction at the end of it all of having built something almost from scratch

Man that is a lot of motor 1515 .5Y for a 24 inch sport. I can barely keep my 27 inch sport in the water. It run about 62MPH. I prefer the 27 inch rigger for a 1515 .5y.
