SAM_0360.jpgSAM_0358.jpgSAM_0359.jpgSAM_0361.jpgSAM_0362.jpgIt's here! Great deal on the motor mount from H20, and quick shipping. Hull was ordered through Dasboata, and he came through strong as well. I did speak with Steven first, but for a special order he was indifferent about getting the sale, and gave me his blessing on going elsewhere to keep it simple. Overall the hull seems great. The CF appears to have a slight run of resin that is visible, but cannot be felt by touch, and the seams are a bit different to me. Apparently they are using a new type of seam material now, and with this hull there's a large gap to fill in some spots. The seam material is a bit gummy still, hopefully it will cure a bit more in some time, and not perfectly smooth in some spots. None of these imperfections bother me one bit, I didn't expect perfection, as I'm pretty sure most hulls require a bit of work to finish off nicely. Personally, I don't concern myself as much with a perfect finish, I just want to run 'em. I got a turbine cowl and a classic cowl, to switch it up if I want. Pics show classic cowl on normal, and backwards, decisions decisions..........I know some don't really like the turbine cowl look, but I actually love it.My private off road rc track

Sick Kevin! I cannot wait to see that run. Dude when you get that thing setup nice, you're gonna see what all the fuss is about.
The soft stuff is some sort of seal or fill material that never seems to get hard, but I'm pretty sure it is not the material used to join the boat. My mean machine is strong as anything.
Can't wait to see this buildComment

I can certainly see how fitting components in will be challenging, as many have mentioned. It's a shame that the packs won't fit down in the sponsons, I really wanted to do a 8s2p setup, but the packs are a pain to get down there. I guess we'll see how it all comes together over the winter. My private off road rc track

Is there anywhere you can cut away a section of lip to get two packs in, then put the other two in the middle?Comment
-
I did fit a couple 4s in the sponsons, cutting the lip wouldn't help much either. I really don't want to use a shoehorn every time I swap packs though. I only spent 5 min with it, I'm still focusing on getting boats in the water and cars on my track while the weather is still reasonable, eventually I'll start trying more stuff with layout, I have a few ideas though. My private off road rc track

I was ready to place my order today, and now apparently the only Neu 1527/1Y that Steven had is showing out of stock. If somebody here bought it then well, you know who you are, and you know what you've done(kidding).
Steven just responded to my email and told me the Neu's are all on order, but hypothetically, any input on which Leo 4092 would be best suited for a temporary motor if I decided to start with that?
1050kv 5D?
1300kv 4D?
1390kv 2Y?
I have it in my head now that I want Y motors because they're apparently easier on ESC's, but I am open to input otherwise. The 1050 seems too low for 6s, and the others put 8s kind of out of the question, but 8s could wait until I get a Neu........My private off road rc track

OK wish I saw this sooner, I have Remy lay me up special hulls for the SC.40, I have him glass in shelves in the sponsons for the batteries to sit on top of, so the batteries are not on the bottom of the sponsons and if water gets in they never get wet. This also stiffens up the entire hull. I use special 6s packs in each sponson (they are long 3s and 3s end to end) you can order these dirrectly from Mark at Dinogy. I don't use an extended strut but the rudder is slightly behind the prop. I DO NOT use velcro as it is extremely difficult to get the batts out, instead I use pool noodle to hold the batteries in place in front, back inside and above the batts. My CG is about 38% from the back of the boat (I change this frequently due to water conditions). Strut is about 1/4" above the bottom of the sponsons. I have used a lot of props on this boat from a 646/3 all the way to a 457/3 and everything inbetween. My current setup uses a 450/2 with tongue red and pitched up quite a bit. my boat goes 60+ with this setup and I can run for over 5 minutes. We run 4 minute heats and I always come back with close to 30% left in my cells and never any heat issues. If I feel the boat is running well and conditions are good I go up to a 450/2 and its pretty damn fast!!! I have propped up as much as a 457/3 and done in the mid to high 70's and raced open cat against gassers and BIG 10s boats and it holds its own. My boat has won 5 of the last 6 National champioships in Q offshore, plus many other titles. Oh BTW I do run a 1527/1Y and a castle Ice 240 controller. Let me know if you have any questions I have built 1/2 dozen of these and at least 20 others have copied my setup with good success. Anyone who has seen my boat at the Nats and in Mi or other big racecs can tell you it's KILLER!!!!We call ourselves the "Q"Comment

Also, it seemed you typed that you went "up" from a 450/2 dt'd and pitched to a 450/2, was this a mistype? My private off road rc track

yes sorry I went up from a 450 to a 452, I don't use the datalogging because I don't need too, I've been dialing this setup in for 6-7 years, there has never been an issue w this setup and amps, I ran an old hydra 240 for almost 6 years and only took it out to use in another boat. Nothing ever gets over 110 with this setup and I always have plenty of battery left. I wouldn't go with a D wind motor if you're looking for runtime, but the 1530's are beasts. Also the swordfish 300 weighs over a pound just a lot of extra weight in the boat!!!We call ourselves the "Q"Comment
