    Sprint Cat 40/80 build components?

I should have a hull showing up this week, and when I get the ball rolling I will start a build thread, but I'd love some feedback from the more experienced guys(particularly with this hull). I've read a lot of older builds etc., and have an idea of what I want to do, but input/feedback, particularly from a handful of people I have in mind, would be great.
My intention with this boat is kind of two-fold........
A.) I would like to be able to run in the 60's no problem, handle chop, and turn on rails like I hear these hulls do so well, with decent runtime(4 minutes).
B.) I would also like to have the potential, maybe even with alternate batt setup, to break at least 75mph, and possibly close to 80 on a good day, just to satisfy a never ending quest to increase my personal best.

I have a blue, 34.5" hull, no rails, carbon reinforced floor, and both a turbine and a classic hatch coming soon, I'd like to set it up so either hatch will fit, but we'll see........
So far, I am thinking a NeU 1527/1Y(not afraid to go bigger, but I don't know how much it would benefit), with either a SF240HV pro+, or an SF300HV Pro+(if I can fit it)
Batts could be either 6s2p 1000mah(likely on the tunnel), or 8s2p 10000mah(maybe half or all in sponsons).

I am thinking about this motor mount, especially because I could possibly lay it down flatter than 15 deg. and give a slight "S" bend, allowing me more clearance to locate the motor if I run the classic hatch backwards

If I go with this mount, I'd like to order it early as it may take some time, but I am open to others.....

I am also thinking so far to run a 1/4" flex, with the large extended strut, unless I am steered away from that for a better option, with a speedmaster dual pickup tapered rudder setup, I'm thinking 4" setback?

I am certainly open to all options/suggestions, especially ones coming from experience, as I wouldn't mind getting some stuff ordered up.

Yes, twin has occurred to me, but it seems you can get about the same performance out of a single, so I think I'll keep it simple until I get another build or two under my belt.

certainly true, however i believe twins have less stress on the components giving longer runtimes and cooler temps? never done one

I am considering it, but for now I'd like to focus the thread on a single setup, but who knows, it could be a long winter.

Any idea what the spacing is between the face and the ring? I'm hoping to be able to fit a full length cooling jacket(82.6mm long)........
If it's long enough I'll take it.

Full lenght jacket is no problem with this mount. I have a 1527 and the HRC jacket that fits with no problem. The longest jacket you can use on this mount is 31/4 long. The HRC jacket for the Neu 1527 is a perfect fit.Pic added of mount with jacket, full length

                      Kevin, why an extended strut?
Whatever you choose, keep the rudder behind the prop a bit

I was hoping for a couple experienced Sprint Cat guys to give some feedback on that, I just saw it in a build thread and thought there might be a reason. The SC transom drops straight to the rear of the sponsons, unlike some cats which have an overhang, which effectively also puts the prop farther back. Extended strut seemed to help my Sniper a great deal, and also the Whiplash, maybe getting mone water to the prop. Hopefully guys like Fluid and MadmikePags will chime in...........hint hint

I find the extended strut on this hull help keeps it on the water, lessening the chance of a blow over. The back edge of my rudder is even with the drive dog - no handling problems with it either. For 60 mph performance a 1527/1Y on 6S will work, with higher speeds possible on 8S - for short runs! I've had mine in the 80s with SAW setups but keeping it on the water was tough, I needed aero devices to do it consistently. The hull is much happier in the 60s.

Running for 4 minutes in the 60s will be tough, especially in the Summer when water temps are high. With 10,000 mAh of pack capacity you'd have to average just 120 amps, which means not WOT all the time if you want in the 60s. Component temperatures will probably be the biggest battle for four minutes of running.

Thanks Fluid. I'm not set on the 4 min. run time WOT, as I'm also not use to being able to hold it open through turns. If I can do that, I will not be afraid to sacrafice some runtime. What would you suggest for setback on a speedmaster rudder mount?

I use the short "L" rudder bracket, keeping the rudder close to the transom. I can't say this is the "best" standoff but it certainly works for me. And you will be able to make full-throttle turns on a legal race course, or even a bit tighter. The tunnel tabs are not needed unless you are trying for speeds above 70.
