    CESA 1882 by ABC HOBBY

Hi everybody i just got hold of an old cesa 1882. I bought it has spare or repairs because it was missing its prop ,but i have sortted that .
Inside the boat is a futaba speed control with reverse mc112b a futaba two channel receiver fp-r102gr am 27mhz, futaba indirect drive servo fp-s148 and two 7.2 battery packs wired together .
I have run this boat once untill the battery packs were dead when i opened it up the boat was hot .
Since then i have re-charged the batteries and this time one of the battery packs started smoking. i have tested them to make sure they are not over charged each battey reads about 7.86.
My guess is that it is the electric speed control which is proberbly well over 15 years old and i think it is also meant to be for a car and not a boat.
Can anybody give me any ideas on what i can do to upgrade this boat and what electric speed controller can be used to control the two 7oo rst stock m and y motors by abc hobby. any help in this matter would be very much appreciated as i know nothing about rc boats

      Yup, same boat different name.
The full size boat was originally named CESA 1882 and was raced by its genius Italian designer Fabio Buzzi and was unbeatable on the world offshore circuits.
In 1988 it won the Italian Championship, the European Championship, the American Championship, and the World Championship.
It then raced under the name of Gancia da Gancia still with Fabio at the helm and continued to be unbeatable in Europe.
It then changed hands and was raced under the Super Hawaii name in Europe and the US.
It had a reputation as a cat eater, and was powered by 4 turbocharged 8.2 litre Seatek diesel engines producing over 2500bhp.
The engines were of course designed by Fabio.
He designed the boat and engines, raced it, and won just about everything at the time in Europe - how cool is that !!!!!
Just thought you might like some trivia info on this amazing historic race boat.
      Graham.

Excellent bit of history Graham. A while back I found a glass hulled Gancia da Gancia model on ebay powered by nitro. I mised the end of the listing and was pretty broken up about it. I have never seen one again. I'd love to fine out who makes that hull in glass.

ABC Just released the GANCIA De GANCIA in fiberglass this summer for nitro power. you can buy it for around $330.00 direct from them if you are serious about owning it. If you e-mail them they will sell and ship one direct. I have been talking to one of the guys at ABC about this boat for a few months but got a 52 inch version fron Europe.

I don't remember if we can post links to other websites on this forum so if you want a link to the real Gancia de Gancia that is being restored pm me and I'll send you the link.
