    Yes with something like a JAE style rigger the stuffing tube would need to be held to the stinger.

      I know this has pretty much been answered, but on my setups, I run the brass tube flush with the transom and the teflon extends into the stinger until it bottoms out inside. I put a couple of o rings on the teflon liner that fit snugly over that and inside the stinger. Works like a charm. I was having issues with water getting pushed up the tube before, the o rings sealed it right up.
