    Central hobbies Mystic 54 build

I recently purchased a Mystic 54" from central hobbies and am beginning to buy hardware for a twin electric setup. I hope somebody can steer me in the right direction about what motor size, shaft size and prop size to go with. I also need a recommendation on drives. I have been looking at drives from Horracing.com. Any help I can get would be much appreciated.

The hor drives are fine as long as you're not pushing big power. Twin motor you have a lot of options. Escs you also have a lot of options. You can see where this is going lol we need more information on your goals and what you want this boat to do. That boat is big and very wide, probably handles amazingly well but honestly I wouldn't go over 70 with it you're just asking for trouble. Here is how I would setup the boat to get a nice cool running boat

Twin leopard 5692 730kv or TP power equivalent
    SF 240escs
    11s1p per motor
    x457 prop

---You can run 12s if you want per motor I just don't think you need that much speed with that hull or you'll blow over all the time. If you decide on the horracing drives great, you'll need a counter rotating set of flex shafts hughey makes them and they can be found at southriver rc boats. Just so happens I'm selling a pair in the buy/sell area of this forum, haha. In all honesty though they're awesome but I'm going to run mbp click drives instead now. To chase crazy speed with this boat would be an exercise in futility I would run it like a big mean machine and just have a ton of fun cranking turns and what not. The horracing rudder is fine also.

I'm interested to see this one. The Mystic Sport has been on my wish list for a while now.

Thanks you! That's a big help! I'm shorting for 60-65 mph and I was contemplating going with leopard 4092 motors but like you said I prolly need to run 56mm instead based on the size of the boat. The drives and the shafts were my biggest concern based on the fact that there are so many options to go with from a variety of manufacturers.

ya 4092 won't cut it, plus they'll look comical sitting inside of that big hull.

I think 4092's would get it to 60 no problem! Me, I'd go twin 1717's

Sure it could get the boat to 60 but would you want those motors powering it all of the time? I wouldn't. Its a big expensive boat with big parts might as well follow through with it.

The 1717's with a pair of castle 240's would be my first choice

Its a fiberglass box that weighs 10lbs many options exist to get it moving I just prefer hv as I have a ton of 6s zippy batteries and run two 56" boats (mystic 138 and fightercat super daytona), I beat the heck out of both of them and have good run time and the batteries never break 90 degrees. I suppose there are different routes to the same destination lol

Edit: The central hobbies hulls are made from polyester resin I believe I'm curious does anyone know what this thing weighs?

I'm anxious to know as well. I haven't received the boat in the mail yet I'm hoping for mid next week delivery. I will weigh it as soon as I get it. The big question is 1/4" or 3/16" flex shafts

1/4 stepped down to 3/16. That way you can run the 3/16" props

That's what I was thinking. Running with counter rotation

The only good advise I heard so far was from Iridebikes. This hull is super heavy and needs ton of power to move it. They were designed around a gas setup and 40 series wont cut it. You atleast want a 56 can and getting an esc to handle this is even a bigger challenge. Cc hydra or ices are ok but almost always will fail u in the end. Believe it or not the sf 300 will put my hydra anything to shame. Maybe etti 220 or sf240 on 12s with roughly 800 kv with 60 - 65 mm range props will do. It will be a safe setup and please u as well. Pick your sources for information wisely. Good luck keep us posted.

Thanks for everyone advice I really appreciate everyone's help with this build. I will be posting progress of the boat as its getting built. Right now I'm having a really hard time deciding on drives. The MHZ drives for the mystic 114mm cat look like a good drive system.

You really need to research anout drives for her. I dont think the 114's will work because of the diffence in transoms.
