For someone looking to get there first tunnel hull would inboard be an easier set up to begin with? I would love to run outboard just getting it tuned in

I think you would be better to go with an outboard. Most of these tunnels have very narrow interiors and would be a huge PITA to get an inboard installed.

Plus they are just not designed to run an inboard setup, I suppose you could rig up some kind of steerable outdrive to get the prop back far enough. Anything is pretty much possible but the big question is it worth it when you can just bolt on an outboard unit and do it "right"
There is no difference between tuning an outboard or an inboard, same kind of adjustments, same effects. Both take time and trial end error
To be honest it is pretty easy to make changes on an outboard tunnel if you have a good motor mount. All you have is up and down and tilt! No rudder to adjust.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

So if I were looking at a 35" tunnel already set up with inboard I would be better off converting it back over to outboard with 7.5 leg?

If its already set up that way then someone has done the hard part. There are tunnels that run with inboards but I couldnt honestly say whether or not they are designed for inboards or have just been converted. What boat is it you are looking at?

It's a second hand 35 inch tunnel don't know brand going to look at it this arvo. Was told it was imported from Germany and has been run as inboard for close to year.

Got it out for a quick test today. WOW this boat is going to be awesome. It flies along like a dream. The 7.5 unit is a perfect match. Didnt notice any ill handling at all. Still more testing needed and I need to go over it again to check for leaks. First run the set up is very close.

Just bought a 36" k&m tunnel hull all hardware just need electrics already set up as an inboard was going to go 4082 prolly 1600kv with swordfish 200 amp speedy already have programmming gear otherwise get t180 and hoping to run on 5s as i already have 4 50c 5000mah and maybe 3 blade 46x1.8. I like the neu motors but i think I will go with leopard for cost, any tips or recommendations (seller ran a combo similar and had great results)

Nice looking boat. Congrats. A leopard is a good choice for motor. You might also want to look at some from hk. They have got some great motors at very resonable prices. I have not had much luck with 3 blades on tunnels but being an inboard it might work better. a 445- 447(2) is right around the proper size. Also you might want to look at the sirius line of motors. They are simiar in price to the leopards but higher wattage.
