That hull looks cool with the stiletto motor.I would have like to do the same but i dont think its up to the task for 6s. The HK hornet also comes with the esc outside the radio box.If its 100% waterproof its fine. Tunnels do blow over so you wanna make sure everything is sealed. I made some changes to mine. There is a pic of the finished setup in the other tunnel thread. Hope to test tommorrow.

Sonds like your on the right track. You'll have some peace of mind with a larger box. Knowing everything is protected.

Dave I build the boxes out of thin poster board or cardboard. Then lay my templates on the wood and trace them and cut them out. The cardboard is easier to trim to fit and to make sure everything is going to fit inside.

Ya that is a good idea. I also read somewhere where they guy carved one out of foam then wrapped it with glass cloth. Then he removed the foam. pretty cool idea !

I like the foam/glass idea too. One of the guys I know has built cowls for a hydro like this. Only problem with me doing glass work is the mess I make. Seems like when I do glass everything within 6 feet of my project gets at least some epoxy on it.....including me, my hair, etc. lol

Don't be surprised if the boat still rips pretty fast on UL1 with 440 prop... I "thought" I would prop down with that to slow the boat down for my son and it is still a rocket... my racing prop is now actually an m440, and my recreational prop is down to x437.

                        Here's the boat on UL1/m440

This post has the OPC On UL1 down to x437

Inboards require a separate rudder prop shaft and strut but you can typicaly maintain higher speed in the corners with an inboard. outboards are self contained units (shaft, strut, rudder all in one.) But the steering is trickier because you are re directing thrust, not just water so you have to slow down a bit more to navigate the turns. Other than that an outboard is just way cooler IMO.
