    Mystery esc question

I bought a 30 amp mystery esc on ebay for a great price. When I hook it up and give it throttle the motor revs up then slowly stops. The only time I have seen this before was on a wet castle T bird. Is this fixable from programming?
    Thanks

I have used several of these ESCs. Never had an issue. Could it be an issue with your batteries? I think Randy had one with a cold solder joint on one of the wires.

voltage cut off is set to Lipo as default, change it to Nimh if that's what you're using!!! If not I would say it is smoked!

I am using lipos and have tried several batteries. It must be smoked.

Don't these need a pistix with pistol?

Using one of those also. I also tried it with a stick radio.

All mine work without a PiStix. There's a photo of the controller on the Micro Hydro thread. I've actually seen 2 different controllers labled "Mystery". One has clear shrink wrap and a ribbed heat sink. These have not worked for me. The other comes in a yellow shrink wrap and has smooth heat sinks. These have all worked perfectly.

Mine is red with ribs and clear shrink wrap. I'm sure some folks have had good luck with the ultra budget crap but I haven't. one esc from hobby city smoked upon being plugged in. and this one doesn't work either. I can get cc stuff in the $30 range and have had great luck with that. Buyer beware.

I'm confused. In a different post you state otherwise.

I've never had an issue with the yellow wrapped ones in the photo I referenced. The other one got wet and went poof. My fault.

I'm sorry for being a Dick but when you ordered did you get what was shown in the picture on ebay? And just to clarify did the clear wrapped ones work before getting wet and the yellow wrapped ones worked even after getting wet?
I'm frustrated because with this rc stuff every time I try to save money it seems to cost me more money and a bunch of frustration, except for the cheap lipos and the xpower esc . I haven't met any of those I didn't like.... yet.

It has been a while since I used the clear/red/ribbed ESC, but as I recall, I was not happy with something about it. I don't recall all the details why I didn't like the clear/red/ribbed version, I just know I avoid them now and haven't had any other issues.

I've waterproofed all my yellow-wrapped ones, so I can not comment on their reaction to water. I may do a "How To Waterproof the ESC" in the build thread.

Go through my build thread and find that particular ebay seller. He has the best prices and the stuff that works for me.

Are you useing 2s or 3s. If I remember correctly those that that come lipo default is set for 3s. Does you programming instruction work? Some vendors send a generic programming instructions and it might not work with your esc. Try setting it to the right lipo. If you need the instructions ask.

That's who I bought it from.

I'm using 2s. No instructions were included. When I contacted the vendor I was sent a link that listed the options but not how to select them. I'm not interested in spending another minute on this pos esc. If someone wants it send me your address and I will send it to you for the cost of shipping. I will continue to use the Castle thunderbirds that cost $34 have instructions that make sense and have the added bonus of working .
