I think I'm just going to give in and pay Keith to do it. I'd really like to do it myself but I'm to much of a putts and probably mess it all up

It's not very hard to build up an fe boat. To build one that's perfect and extremely clean looking, that's a completely different story. I would say just try it yourself but considering you've bought the cf hull pays not to screw it up. Maybe buy a genesis hull from fightercat they're like $75, doesn't need much power. I'm saying this as a down the road sorta thing you can use your fantasm as a template to work from when your ready to build your first boat.

Well I just got my cf fantasm and I'm almost positive I'm going to have Keith do most if not all the build. I have a genesis hull that I have messed around with and fiberglassed and played with. But as far as this build is concerned I think my wife would kill me if I screwed it up.

It's not as difficult as you would think just measure twice ,take your time and cover everything . I built a couple but the first one is sink or swim and you will appreciate it a little more if you do it . A labor of love just my 2 cents

Yes it's the first one that has me scared. But I want this to kinda be my flag ship if you will at least for now and I want it to have that extremely clean look. Maybe after I have this one done for me I will get a lynx from fightercat (same hull only 27 inch) and use my fantasm as a templet like iridebikes said.

My very first boat was the one Keith built for me. Then I had 2 rtr's. I kind of went backward from what everyone else does.

And now I have my 2nd KB built boat being delievered tomorrow. And my big mono I built is at paint. I do agree with Alexgar, I know my mono will be with me for a very long time. And it does hold a special place in my heart. And my wallet!!!! And on my mono build, I went ass backwards from everybody else on that to. Normally people start out small and work there way up. Well not me, I started out with an $800 hull. Now let me tell you, I was a nervous S.O.B. when I startted drilling holes in that hull. If I had to do it over again, I would start with something small, and work my way up. Not only in size, but in cash too. With my mono build, when I have it full put together. With everything ready to run, and with $950 worth of batteries in it. I'll have $5,000+ in that mono before it even gets wet. And if it runs like crap, or what not. Its all on my head. I just hope it runs good. cause i'm wanting to start saving for my next winter build. HPR 135

Why? You didn't screw it up. The boat is turning out great.

Thanks Joel!!! That does mean a lot coming from you. You build some very clean builds. Plus there is a lot of $$$$ to spend on a first build. Looking back I wish I would have built a couple smaller ones before my mono. Cause I learned so much on that build, there would have been a few things I would have done differently. For a nicer finished product. How are you coming on all your saw builds

                      One down, working on another.

@blowNover It depends on the person. I enjoy building as much as I do running boats. However I enjoy fast motorcycles also, but know very little about internal combustion engines....I leave that to the pros.....I just ride them.

I'm also like Joel, I enjoyed building that mono. And rebuilding the 2 rtrs that I had. As much as running the boats

I enjoy working on all three of mine very much but I'm not sure I'm ready for a carbon fiber build yet. If I do it and it turns out looking like a half done POS I will obsess over it till it looks like one of Keith's boats and that will make for one hell of a pissed off wife. So like I said I think I will have this one done by Keith and get another carbon fiber from fighter cat ie the lynx and I will use the fantasm as a templet and do that entire build myself no matter how long it takes.

On that note as well tomorrow I am taking the fantasm over to Richard at FunRC Boats and he might actually be helping me do the build in his shop we will see. It either way it will be nice to actually be with an expert pointing out how it need to be done in person you know. Maybe it will give me the confidence to do it myself.

If Richard at funrcboats agrees to really give me a hand with it I will do it myself but I will probably still use Keith's parts.
