If you run without teflon liner you can use a 3/16 flex in the original stuffing tube and strut. Just need to drill out the strut and fit other bearings.

        I will clarify.

you want 3/16th flex and shaft (pre assembled if you get from OSE)
Id advise you remove the factory fitted stuffing tube and replace with a larger brass tube.
        If you buy this

        and this

Then all you need is a strut from OSE and a shaft saver.
Be very careful when choosing your strut, it needs to match the stuffing tube, measure everything twice and double check before you order.
The stuffing tube that comes with the product in the link above is 9/32 OD so if you use that you need 9/32 ID on the strut OR if thats too hard to find, buy another length of brass tube (LHS) that will fit the 3/16 cable inside to suit the strut.
Can you point me to a Strut? It doesnt seem that the OD/ID is listed.. Holding off ordering till I can make sure I'm getting a correct strut. And just exactly how does the stuffing tube connect to the strut?

Down here in the land of OZ, R/C Boat Bitz has all sorts of upgrades for the Genisis.

I think that on your side of the Planet, 'Kintec Racing' does a similar sort of thing if you can't find what you need on OSE.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

i had to cut the stuffing tube and new shaft alittle and leave the liner in. but miss geico parts will work fine.

sorry its taken me so long to get back to you. I used this one.

and modded it to fit the stock bracket, it works awesome! though it was a lot of mucking about to get the stuffing tube arrangement to work out.

Just chiming in to thank everyone for all the tech tips. I have been thinking of buying the Genesis. I am doing my research to see what people think about it and how it will handle the upgrades.

its a long list. motor 4074 2200kv or higher, 180amp esc. new prop strut cable and steering linkage will get you running alot better than what you will get with stock boat.youll be glad you made upgrades.

be sure to reinforce the motor mount too. I added a bunch of fiberglass to the tunnel around the mount and stuffing tube areas right down to the sides of the tunnel, strengthened the boat up a lot!
Currently Im having trouble keeping mine on the water, it's chine dancing and blowing over very often, on 5s with 2200kv. I have changed prop and will test today along with my rigger.

Has anyone tried a 4S setup? I have read about how everyone has been using other combinations other then a 4S. I am thinking about running two 2S in series, 180amp esc and a Leopard 2200KV - prop size I have not decided on. Just wondering if anyone has tried this set up. This was just a thought since I have a collection of 2s batteries. Thanks

                        I just built up a 4s setup. Running a neu 1515 1y (2200kv) with a m442. Clocking a bit over 50mph.
Only run it a few times and every thing is cool after a 4 min run. Going to try a m642 next.
                        Iam running a 4s 2p setup. 8000mah in total
Peak amps with the 442 is 163a
