    IMPBA, NAMBA, FE Rules Etcetera

So I was browsing the IMPBA site because my club needed some electric rules.

This is what I found....Updated last year but at least 10 years out of date.

    What gives?

Brushed Motors, NIcads and Stock 05.... Really....This is the best we can do.
Most clubs I know are incorporating FE classes into the mix. Lets get this cleaned up.

Without argument. The board should just do it.

I agree. I was talking to Chris at the NLMBC meeting Sunday and we were talking about this massive gap in rules.

Chris and I felt it would be nice to include other motors besides the PB & AQ motors since there are gazilions of cheap 4 pole motors out there that could do the job just as well but, waaay cheaper.

We wanted to make it really cheap and nasty for a spec class but, it will fall on deaf ears most likely. Hopefully it doesn't end up anal retentive like NAMBA.

Check out the March Roostertail when it comes out. Chris Harris has been a busy man with a broom and a dustpan.

      Chris,
Thanks for stepping up and taking the BS by the horns!!!

          Ray,
The IMPBA has left that up to the clubs.
There are no Limited (spec) rules. You guys can do what works for you!

Dollar for dollar imo this is the the best P-Spec motor very nicely made motor. This would be the least expensive

Yes just talked with Chris. Working hard. Did not want to open a can of worms. Maybe just gummy worms......
Politics is a hard row to hoe. Even in Toy Boats...

BTW i was not looking for any new classes just a clean up and redefinition. All in good time.

So you think a 4 pole motor will compete with a 6 pole of the same size?

Good plan guys. Let every club decide. That way when you travel to a venue that isn't "your" club you can re-invent your setup every time. The mystery will bolster participation I'm sure. Just carry a shoe box of motors with you that has every motor of every club within driving distance of your home club. That or never travel to avoid the shoe box requirement.

Another idea, have no rules at all. That way everyone will have the same setup when they get together to race...........or not.

                    Rule's is so fun.

There are other countries that make it work. Limit kv, can size and watts and prop. Imagine that....

I find it silly that we are limited to approx. 4 different motors from 2 manufacturers all of which come from China like the motors I proposed.

What is scaring you Terry, you don't have to carry a box of motors, just give the rule a bit of breadth. Frikin $80 for a motor that is worth $40 at best??? WTH?

We haven't had a good P-Lim bashing thread in about a year. We're about due but it's too close to racing season for me. If it ain't about motor choice, it's about ESC's, sacrificing equipment to win races or teching motors to prevent cheating. All that arguing kind of takes the fun out of racing the Limited classes for me. The clubs and districts that currently run P-Lims have their heels dug in. The racers in my district appear to be happy with with the D12 rules so I'm just going to kick back and hold my opinion until a serious proposal is submitted.

For those that don't have a Limited classes yet, develop your own set of rules. If it's different than everyone else's rules, so be it. That's the only way we are going to find out what works and what doesn't. Heck, some day maybe we will all be able to compare notes and come up with a model that works nationally.

Ray get with the other clubs in your district and settle on the motors etc. If the interest is there the classes will thrive.
With all due respect to Mr. Davis.
Your races will be no different than any race in the country. If I guy wants to race he'll bring boats that will meet the rules on your flyer. I can't imagine that another motor or two that are comparable to the motors that are being run in the rest of the country will be a deal breaker.
I'm curious to see what you come up with. Eventually the well will run dry on the motors we are currently running. It would be nice to already have alternatives (with a track record) in mind.

Like D12. The limited classes in D13 are on fire! (so to speak)
