I can't imagine why anyone would want a "Limited" class to be "limited"... I mean, seriously, that would just be crazy...Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

Good plan guys. Let every club decide. That way when you travel to a venue that isn't "your" club you can re-invent your setup every time. The mystery will bolster participation I'm sure. Just carry a shoe box of motors with you that has every motor of every club within driving distance of your home club. That or never travel to avoid the shoe box requirement.
Another idea, have no rules at all. That way everyone will have the same setup when they get together to race...........or not.
Rule's is so fun.

I think the biggest problem with HK motors is availability . They might just decide to stop offering a motor also it takes 3 plus weeks to get things in the USA from them, sometimes less but that is rare.
If I make a 45 min drive I can have a AQ 2030kv motor 1800kv motor or a PB 1800 today. If I drive down the street to a LHS the owner will order one and have it to me in 2-3 days or just order it myself from tower with a similar turn around. Point is they are widely available.sure they are 80 bucks, but at 50 for the sk edf motor factor in shipping and time they aren't that far off. At the end of the day I'm just a NAMBA guy though.Comment

I have the exact same plastic bins with a very similar collection of motors.
If I have to buy a different motor for each venue I just wont go to those venue. Well, maybe not me, I'm a lunatic. I'll get the required motor but a guy that's pissed about the difference between a $40 motor and an $80 motor is not going to go if he has to spend yet another "x" amount of dollars on a motor to compete with the guys in the next village.
We've been running these things for years now but we can't use that as reference. Our clubs spec classes last season were won by AQ speedos despite the fact that the ESC were open. No matter.
The most widely contested classes in the history of fast electrics are based on the NAMBA rules that specifiy a motor and an open speedo.............but let's put our head in the sand and ignore the evidence. Happened in NAMBA so it never happened.
In anticipation of a potential shortage of motors (real or only perceieved) IMPBA has in effect adopted NO rules. "Well......we don't want to deal with the shortage when it comes so we'll have nothing" That should help participation. By not having rules IMPBA is missing out on the spec era.
Guys, FE is tooooooooooo0o small to have two different rule sets.
I know......opinions and buttholes.Noisy personComment

When there is a problem with supply of AQ or PB motors NAMBA will have to adapt as well as the IMPBA clubs. When it becomes a problem then we will have to deal with it plain and simple.
I find it interesting that you think that IMPBA is missing out on the "Limited" classes comimg from a NAMBA guy. We had 30 "Limited" boats entered in the first D13 race of the year and we only offer three "Limited" classes, not to mention the 18 boats we had between N-Mono and P-Mono. All this when we are doing it all wrong. I can't imagine what it might be like if we were doing it the right way.....
Most of the country, IMPBA and NAMBA are running the same thing anyway and it's not like we have droves of people traveling cross country to race anymore. Those that do always have plenty of lead time if there
is something different than they are already running if they choose to go.
Any furthur discussion on the subject I will only comment on the IMPBA forum, so join the org. get signed up. I'll see ya over there.

So far so good. No name calling yet.... I'm with Terri on this. We do not need 2 sets of rules. Just adopt the NAMBA rules. They work.
