Mixing rudder channel with 2 motors? Is that possible?

    Hello
I plan to build a scale boat.I will use 2 motors, 2 esc, a 9 channel tx+rx like this one.
I would like to be able to mix the rudder channel with the motors so when I turn right the right motor will slow to 80% lets say.
Do you thing this is possible ? Do I need to buy some extra electronic parts? Calling to all airplane guys....
    Regards
    Paul

I had a friend ask me once if he could get or make a radio for a PT109 so he could independently control each motor as the real ones did.

The only solution I could think of was to use the guts from a 4 channel radio using 1 channel for rudder and the other 3 for individual motor speed control.

I say use the guts because It would be best for him to make the TX box himself sort of like an ACE radio. You could use 3 sticks from other cannibalized radios for each channel to control motors and either a 4th stick (or steering wheel) for steering.

It's just a matter of getting into it and doing it.

Yours would be slightly easier but, you say you want it to mix with rudder. I'm just not that well versed in mixing to help you with that.

Some asked this on another forum recently. Check out this video using elevon mixing on the radio.

Not sure how on that radio, but it's pretty easy to do it with a Spektrum, can even assign it to a switch so you can turn the mixing on and off.
Looked at that radio at one point, did some research. There is a website with a ton of custom firmware upgrades and info about how to write your own.
Didn't bookmark it but it shouldn't be hard to find. They also sell the programmer, you need to modify the radio to do it though.
It really depends on how easy it is to assign the controls to different outputs on the rx and how to mix them. Didn't watch the video but you may be onto something on the elevon mix.
          But it is possible!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

On my Flysky IT4 I have a mix setup where dual motors are controlled with the trigger, then when i turn the wheel one motor slows down based on how much steering input I add. If I don't use the trigger one motor goes forward the other goes backward

@srilash - can you let me know what exactly is that mixer and where I can find one?

The one that I had made has a potentiometer built in so that you can adjust the input on each one.You can slow one motor down alot or a little.I went thru hunting all over for this till Heyok said he could make me one.

I have one here or I could have another made for you Paul. The one here never made it to its home in my FighterCat Shocker as it is resting at the bottom now. That was to be the gizmo's home. Let me know if you want one.

I paid Heyok $50 for mine. I can ask him what he would do another for.It may be better as this one was a one off.But this is a hand made item not a chinese knock off "one of a million" kind of thing. That e-bay one would be like the robot one I imagine.Interesting though. I didn't think of it but one could just go rudderless with one of these.Could be good for SAW use.

I got an e-mail off to him Paul. That e-bay one would do it for your scale project though. Give me a bit to chat with Heyok and see if he'll be able to do a few at a better price. There has been a few interested parties but $50 scares them off.I paid it because of the design work and such for a one of a kind.
