Some observation ,The turn fin should be mounted on the inner side of the bracket. The ruddder should measure 3-3/4" from the underside of the deck

This boat will fly on ABC 3016 prop, just make sure you have 0 to 1 postive degree angle on the strut setting

For easy taping, build a sub cowl. Then mount your original cowl over that with O rings.

You may or may not need to move your motor. I would experiment with lipo location to get COG at recommended location.

Blazer Marine has the coolest looking boats. Brian keeps saying he will be releasing a smaller FE version.

Starting to figure out where things are going to go. I will be running 8s2p 6600mah using four 4s 3300 batteries. I am thinking about cutting out enough of the front bulkhead so I can fit two of the batteries in the front. Will I need some type of bracing (carbon rod) or something across the top to keep it strong enough? Also, I got the prop in. WOW it is huge. That is a 445 prop next to it.

After neglecting my family duties a bit this weekend and working like crazy on this boat, I have it all stuffed in there. Behold. 8s2p 6600mah, castle 2028, castle HV. Took quite a bit of cutting and thinking and cutting to get everything in there. CG is great. Really the motor is so heavy the batteries become less important. All I have left to do is find the darn plug so I can program the ESC. Timing on this motor anyone?

By the way a couple of new things in this one for me. One is a resister to plug before the main plugs. Wow. How nice it is not to have the nerve racking "Pop" when you plug in. The second thing is I purchased a separate highvoltage BEC that you tap into your power to run the servo's and receiver. You can see it sitting right above the receiver in the back. Looks like it is going to work great. I am not a fan of having to deal with a separate battery pack for the servo's and receiver. Hope it holds up ok.

Great News. I finally took out the Backlash for the first run ever. WOW. The boat ran beautifully and was stuck to the water like glue. I did two conservative laps and brought it in and all was good. That is the slower speed you see. I dropped it back in with the same batteries and came back with 75mph! Really crazy good handling and fast. Can't believe it went so well on the first time out. Thanks for all the help from everyone on this. Tomorrow I will dump down the data on the Castle ESC and see what it looks like. Everything came back in the low 100's. Took a bit of finesse to get it on plane at the start. Typical punch the throttle, let it rock back and hit it hard a second time.

Cool. Is it easy to tape? X series props with more tongue get on plane lots easier

All of the cowl has a pretty good lip around it except where the area comes out for the gas motor. Still, not a big deal to tape that area so not a problem at all. The neat thing also is the sound is completely different since you are running a much lower rpm (8s, castle 2028) and a bigger prop. Very quiet boat, but very fast.

This is too funny. First run of my Backlash ever. I am doing a 2 lap 75 percent run just to see if it all holds together. You can hear one of my HOTMBC partners in crime pleading with me to gun it on the second lap. Chuckle. Even on this first run I got 69mph. The very next run with the same batteries was the 75mph run.

Here is some data from yesterday. Concerned about the rising temps on the ESC. The first run the esc was warmer because I wasn't staying on the throttle. Odd, the temps on the esc and motor when I measured after the run were in the low 100's. Can someone educate me a little on voltage ripple and what I am looking for. I know too much is not good for the esc, but what is reasonable?

So, looks like you're averaging 180-190 amps or so on the second screenshot. You probably won't be able to finish 6 laps. Which prop was that with? The temps are taken from the fets I believe so they will be higher than what you'd measure externally. Did you add extra caps to the Castle?

Right now I am running a (A 6719/3 554 from Brent Dailey) and I have not added the extra caps. Haven't really done the extra cap thing before, but if it will help out I am certainly willing to start now. I need to do one more test run where I just stay on the throttle and do maybe three laps and see what I get. Even though I only did two laps I actually covered about .67 miles because I was swinging way out and not running tight. Something to ponder.

Another test run. You will need facebook login to see the video. Click on the "HD" button in the lower left corner for a much better video. This run netted 75mph. There was some hopping and the boat was still to "stuck" to the water. On a subsequent run we added about 8oz of lead to the back of the boat to reduce the hopping and also move the CG back. For the first time ever the boat lifted on the straight away when a slight breeze hit. I am working on the boat today and wondering if I should try raising the strut a bit more. Is there anyone that has any information on what is the depth for the strut for this boat? I am at about 1 1/16 inches from the bottom of the boat to the bottom of the strut. As I look at it, the AOA looks very low. Thoughts anyone?

Looks good, I've got a hopping issue too just haven't had time to fix it yet. Here's a couple of links.
