Whenever our club ( Indianapolis Admirals ) gets together for an event, We are fortunate to have a couple of our members bring their vintage racers with them. Their names are Ed and Dee Hughey. You might be familiar with that name. The world records that they have held at one time or another is impressive. Ed usually brings a small wood v-hull that has a brushed motor, gearbox, 6-cell ni-cads and a 2-speed esc. It is a very fast boat that puts a lot of our brushless boats to shame. Talk about fun!

So what do you do with all that "old tech stuff"? I've got some old can motors, and some Astro Flight motors and gearboxes I used in my planes now just settin' there. I pulled a motor out of a Porter Cable cordless driver and plan to use it for a boat/plane retrieval project...it's one of those 700+ size motors probably even 750 or 800 size.
Consider what you've got in this stuff and then consider this: There will be no more 35mm film available. Companies will by now have stop producing it. So now all your 35mm camera equipment is worth no more than its junk value. I have a very nice Olympus OM 1 with lots of lenses and the prospect of obtaining film for it is getting very difficult. Of course I'm not the only one...people who have invested thousands in camera and photographic equipment are now stuck with what can only be described as curiosity pieces.
Quite frankly, even though digital photography is great and offers avenues for artistic expression that were never before available, the process of film development and printing is becoming a lost art. One of the things I miss is working in my own dark room...yes it's a bit smelly and yes the chemicals being used are a bit environmentally unfriendly, but so is working on your car. I enjoyed processing my own film and making my own prints to the point where I would spend many hours at a time doing this.
Yeah, I know most of you will probably consider me a bit of a dino but I'm going to miss using my trusty OM-1.Comment

gosh if i had anyway to afford id buy all of the stuff u guys have posted, expecially the brushes. Ive got 4 rc cars that i run brushed stuff in and 2 of them you can't put brushless in or i would trust me. those are my 2 old carbon fiber chasis 10th scale pan cars. The other two are my team associated B3 and T3. but ive also got 2 bolink legends, 1 bolink pro street, 1 tamiya indy car, 1 80s kyosho sprint car, and 3 different kits ive never finished. I run 27t stuff in the B3 and t3 and every so often i put my hot 19t stuff in them lol. But i mostly run that 19t setup in my pan cars.Tommy Levescy sponsored by: RCJuice.com, Rawspeed, Scorpion Precision Performance, TC Racing, Triton RC, Oxidean Marine and Cencal Hobbies.
