The investments we make - "Old" Tech - a Blast from the past...

Was cleaning up in my shop some more last night and pulled my box of N1 and M2 motors from a few years ago...

Holy-Moly... what an investment I have here... and all of it pretty much worthless today!

It's pretty amazing how fast tech changes. I think I have at least 4 Team Checkpoint low-wind motors here that haven't even been powered... And, I'm pretty sure I'm one of the VERY few in the WORLD who owns 4 R/C Hydros 4-Cell Brushed ESCs...

    My how times have changed!

Did the same last fall. Sold a bunch of stuff on Ebay: Trinity Speed Gems, Hughey gear drives, Astro Flight 212D's. There's buyers out there, and I was surprised at what they were paying.

I do still have my old 2007 N1 Mono Nats winning Maus Microbullet here still... I think I'm going to do a "retro" restore and put it back to it's original configuration and just keep it for display... Might do that with a couple of these. Also have a balsa 1/10th scale Crackerbox that would be a good fit for something like this...

LOL know anybody into vintage 80's 1/12 scale pan cars? Got a box with a couple rc12i's, spare parts etc, can't get tires for them anymore, well easily enough and in quantity to make racing them cost effective.
Boat hulls going back that far, a dismembered rc10 gold pan, a few AM radios, Novak t100 escs, motors, a couple antique Ni-Cad packs in there as well, probably some spares or broken bits for a Tamiya Frog.........
Still have my first C/L plane from about 1975, a Swordsman 18(broken! and unfliable!), a NIB Fox 35 C/l engine, a pile of Cox .049 engines and parts......
My dad got me flying C/L when I was 6! I think he started in the 50's or something, he just always said he had been playing with planes all his life. Living in Texas at the time, been collecting stuff for 39 years now.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Great- you've just reminded me of a chore I've long been putting off. I have TWENTY FOUR drawers of stuff going way back.

Like I really need to store/hang on to these motors from my saltwater days :

I'll raise you one of these : An RC Hydros "one-off special" that Andy made for Dan Chase who loaned to me at WWIII in 2007 and I haven't returned yet

gosh i see all these awesome old brushed motors and it makes me want to run my rc10L some more. Im running it on a spec 19t motor and 2s and its probably going around 50-55. Its soo fast that if im not careful it will lift off and go flying.

There was a time there where I was sure my Rc Hydros speedos were reproducing on their own. Just the other day I found a couple Schulze chargers. One of those was $600 on it's own. Haven't used it in years. There's a huge box of matched cells kicking around the basement too. All of them toast. Why I still have them? I have no idea.
