In July the OP's problem was - apparently - a shorted ESC in his Apparition which caused things to get hot by the time he finished taping up. Is this still the problem, or is the boat running now and thermals off?

Why would you not replace the esc?

you using a reciever pack or bec? if the esc has a bec and you're using a rec pack without unplugging the red wire on the esc this will heat the controller up. also make sure the neutral position is set correctly.
