You will not gain any run time by running less efficient motors at half the voltage. Run time is all about capacity versus amp draw. Your Neu on 12S1P will get more run time than twin Leopards if you run two 6S1P packs with 5000 mAh cells. Same battery capacity, single more efficient motor = slightly longer run time. If you want any meaningful increase in run time, go 12S2P with 5000 mAh cells.

you're saying 4 batteries 5,000ma in series and parallel? would the boat handle 3 more lbs? if i stay with single neu on same battery setup i have now do you have any prop choices to recommend? presently running octura x 467. thanks for your input.

You have to go to to 2P, that what we are all running. What hull are your running? You should have room if it's a twin.

running pinckert daytona can fit 4 packs but its gonna be a brick its 19 lbs with 2 packs with 2 packs next to motor goes under on startup but jumps up on plane moved packs to behind bulkhead (separating engine and radio box ) now jumps up instantly but with 4 packs not sure what its gonna do. might need a periscope !! also jim any prop selections? not looking to race it but would like decent run times. new to electric used to run 90 straightaway 20 years ago. any advice appreciated. would like to find max run times on 2 packs before i go to 4.

You can get a good ballpark of runtime using your charger and a stopwatch.
Fully charge your batteries, run for 1 minute, charge your batteries again, see how much juice went back into the battery. Now work forwards so you have 20% or 1000mah left in the 5000mah packs at the end of a "full run"
SAy you put 1000mah back in after 1 minute of running, this means you can run for about 4 minutes and should have used 4000mah or 80% of the capacity.
Remember this is just a ball park so I wouldn't run for the full 4 minutes at first, more timing and charge cycles will give you more accurate numbers to work with.
The one minute check is also about how long you should run new setups before checking temperature.
One of the best things I've bought is an eagletree data logger. I'm sure it has paid for itself a number of times over by saving me from blowing things up when testing. I didn't have much electric experience when I got it, didn't have any experienced electric guys to show me the ropes. Thanks to the logger and this forum I haven't made too many costly mistakes. I had a lot of nitro experience so at least I knew how to set up a boat, but the whole idea of an electric power plant kind of really sounded wrong at first. Literally and figuratively!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Spray inside of motor with WD-40 and stand on end for 2 or 3 days, reoil bearings.
Cut srink wrap off batterys and let dry out, same for ESC.
Wait about a week to make sure all is dry and test.

You can use a hairdrier on low to help dry the esc. Batteries I would let dry in a safe dry place.

The conformal coating is good, but it does not get into every nook and cranny. Trust me.
