I was wondering about using some Plasti-cote to spay over my black and orange area on the boat I'm painting. Then use a razor blade to trace out the flames, and peel off the plasti-cote where the gray is. I beleive it would work ok. Has anybody ever tried plasticote in place of tape?

Thanks Jim, I had taped off the gray alittle to soon and I can see where the tape was. I was looking for something to be able to tape off the orange from the gray so I could sand down the gray and repaint. Now with this stuff, I might just sand down the gray and orange. Don't know yet.

Yea I'm going to clear it, but where you can see where I taped. That area is raised up some, but not to bad. I think the clear would cover up about 70% of the tape marks. I might repaint it, I'm not sure.
I do like that tape. Sand it down and repaint the gray. Then all I would need is one piece of that making. Draw out my flames, and cut it out with a razor. It would be alot quicker than the way I original did itComment

I'm going to sand down the gray and orange and repaint it. Do you guys thing it looks OK the way it is painted? Or I'm thinking of painting the gray area Orange this time, with the flame gray or black metalic. Let me know which way you guys think would look the best. I'm partial color blind, so I'm not that great at picking color'sComment

Depending on how heavy you laid on the paint, could you let it cure for a week then wet sand with some 600 over the entire bottom to remove the ridges, then lay on the clear?
This worked on my last paint job...rattle can.
