Flex coupler (2.5mm & 2.3mm)

Hi,

I am in urgent need to make a flex coupling between a 2.5mm solid shaft and a 2.3mm motor shaft.

Questions:

1. What flex cable (width) do I need?

2. Where can I buy the 2.5mm to flex, coupling

3. The 2.3mm to flex, coupling

I dont know of anything commercially available. You can have the couplers made by a Guy named Ned S. I'm not sure how long it will take or cost. The flex size would depend on power used. I would think .130

Yeah sure! I know there nothing commercially available - thats why I came to the post here - you guys always know the way out to 'dead ends'!

I have been running such micro motors with 2.3 mm shafts and 0.098 cable is plenty. I am having success using 0.030 wire drives as well. MHZ makes a 2.3 mm x 2.0 mm coupler; you can ream the 2 mm end to whatever size you need if you know someone with a lathe.

Thanks Dr Jet! I saw those couplers from MHZ - it gives me an idea! The only problem is dont know anyone with a lathe. !!

I am trying to see if i can get them custom made by Ned (as per Steve's) advice.

I just happen to have a little Taig and a 2.3mm reamer if you need it. Here's a thought: You could bore the 2mm end out to 3/32", install a brass tube (1/16" I.D.) with a hole for your set screw, and Voila! A wire drive coupler to fit 2.3mm shafts. I've done it several times already.
