    Cheetah Single motor recomendations

I just ordered a Fighter Cat Cheetah and plan to build it with a single motor and 4s setup.

What would be a recommended motor for this size / weight hull? I'm not sure if I'm going to race but, would like to see high 50s if possible.

    Thanks for any advice

I really hand't thought about budget, I'm not going to buy it all at once. I just need some ideas / goals. Once I have a motor decided upon, I''ll figure out how to get it, even if I have to sell off other stuff.

I"m getting ready to start building my Cheetah hull as well. I will be using a CC1515 2200 on 4 and 5s batteries.

A 34" cat is a little large for a 1515 motor although it works with a smaller prop. You'd do better with a 40mm motor like a Leopard 4082 or a Neu 1521 with Kvs around 2000 or even a Castle 1717. That will get your speed goal of high-50s but be easier to prop and will give lower temperatures. It is still a raceable setup.

This is a copy and past from Choppertony / Properchopper on here

After three days of nail biting (after delivering the boat) I got the call this morning. Success ! Cameron ran the boat on totally glassy water and got 57 mph on the GPS . Being my first Cheetah build, and being asked to come up with a 4S2P package with decent sport speeds & runtime, I made an educated guess on the setup and it worked. Given that all the Cheetah's I've seen here use bigger motors (4092's) on 6S, I gambled on the current setup and I'm pleased it worked out. I went with the 4082 to be more conservative on amp draw for a 4S setup thinking the speeds might not be enough, but 57mph on glass is rockin' with more available when the water kicks up some and loosens the hull (plus more prop is likely do-able).

                  Here's the setup :

                  Leopard 4082 2000KV
                  T-180 at 3.75 deg. advance
                  Oct X447/3
                  Dinogy 4S2P 5000mah 65C/130C packs

                  CG @30%
Strut (shaft centerline) @ 3/16 up
Strut @ 3deg positive (lifts nose under power, allows it to drop down to turn)

I'd reccomend this setup for an alternative to the 6S setups for those invested in 4S batteries and looking for good sport performance. I race seven "P" (4S) classes now and may very likely build this same setup for myself to race in P-Offshore. Hmmmm...

The 1515 worked good in my Genesis.

That sounds like a near-perfect setup. Boats this size race better with props bigger than 45mm; I've run 50mm 2-blades on a similar setup. Better acceleration out of the corners and in rough race water. Little props belong on little boats......

                        The CC1515 2200 is a a 40mm x 75 mm motor.

a 1515 wont cut it. I mean, it will, but you'll be very limited with prop size. I'd definately go with a 6s setup, and a 4082 Leo at minimum.

The Genesis is a much narrower hull than the Cheetah, though I thought the 4074 was comparable to the Neu1515.

If I get a Cheetah, I was thinking 4092/1300kv or maybe 1390kv on 6S for heat racing. Higher voltage= cooler running and less amp draw.

                            Your thoughts Jay?

Don, can you get me the exact length of the hull? I need to know if it's over 34 inches. I think Carl said its a tad over.
Did you already have a 4082 1600? If so, I think it would work great on 5S.

I'm not Don but mine measured at 34-1/16" from transom to sponson tip. Just enough over to make it illegal for P unless you take a sanding block to it.
