Reliable setup for 950mm twin catamaran

    Hello,

i am finishing with my catamaran built. I am going to use 36mm dia motor, that perfectly fit into the sponsons. I used to drive 6S LiPo Pack in my other boats and i want 6S1P pack here too.

I gonna use two turnigy T180 ESC.

What motor and what KV should i use with 6S for reliable setup? What prop should i start? (i would try ABC 1616)

I wonder know, if Leo 3674 2200 can handle 6S reliably. What are other options? NEU, Tenshock? Something else.

I'd suggest this motor in the 2y or 2.5y for 6s:

      What prop?

      OK,

i would try 2Y version. 2,5Y seem to low to me.

What prop should i use for 70-80mph range? Is Leo3674 capable of speeds about low 80+mph?

I would prefer TenShock or ABC/PropShop props, so which one?

For the speeds you seek i would go for a pair Tenshock or NEU.
        6s for a 95cm cat isn't a bit heavy?
Give as more info of your hull.

Ps.I change all my leopards with Tenshocks

Hull is carbon/kevlasr rainforced Tenshock Electra.

I think 6S1P 6600mAh A Spack Nanotech would be still OK. Battery weights about 880g. It means 3900g RtR.

I also think for that speed i want i will need somethink more then Leos. But TenShock and NEUs are twice price then Leo.

What do you think about this motor? http://www.hobbypartz.com/96m812-3674-1700kv.html It offered for EDF so it should handle high rpm, right? Its quite cheap.

6s should be fine for a shared load setup. Go with the 2y if you choose. For props, I'm thinking Octura x447's L + R.

              If i was you i go for 4074 2000kv x447's or 3674 1900kv x445's.
I always change the bearrings with ceramics on Leos.
The hull is well made and handles the speed.

I am limited with motor mount to 36mm dia. motors.

Will Leos rotor handle 6S with 1900KV?

I wouldnt recommend that, the 2.5y is my first recommendation, 2y next.

Ok, thank you for your recommendation.

I am trying to understand that. What is problem with for example 2200kV Leo with 6S. To much rpm (rotor apart)? or bearing issues or too much load (lot of heat generated)? for example with 40mm prop.

                      Hi again.

I was thinking alot, i like speed so i like reliable and fast boat. Is it possible with more expensive setup then leopard? NEU? 1415 1Y, maybe?

Your call, I just really get confused when folks want to run in an rpm zone that is reserved for SAW racing................aka straight ahead drag racing which lasts for two passes. If you want reliable, you can get it with those Leopards, If you use such high rpms then you are limited to prop size which can lead to cavitation, i would prefer more prop in the water myself.

We like to run 40000+ rpms and small props only on cats.
Run time is about around 4 minutes.
Most common set-up is leo 4082 2200kv 5s that gives 45000 on fully charged.

NEU are good motors but untill now we haven't any break rotor on a leopard.
                          So you choose.

                            Thank you jkr

If Leopard doesnt suffer breaking rotors it seems to be good way to go. I prefer also high RPMs on catamarans with smaller prop.

                            What about this final setup:

Leopard 3674 1900kV with 6S and Octura X442. It is almost the same as 2200KV leo on 5S you stated above.

I like more Voltage and less ampere draw in my setup.

If i want more speed, can i go 3674 2200KV and smller prop then 1900KV setup. I think X440 would be safe.

                            Is it right?
