SPec motor in 33" Hydro ??

Just curious what you all think might be a good prop to try on a 33" Hydro running a AQ 1800 Gold Can motor on 4s ?

A good inexpensive prop to start out with would be the 45mm Graupner. It should be easy on the motor/esc, and get you decent running speeds.

A 45mm prop may prove too much with the UL-1 motor in a large hull. Most folks running 1/10th scale boats are using the milder spec motors with great success. The Proboat 1500 Kv motor spins an x447 easily with speeds in the low 40s. A bigger prop could increase the speeds somewhat and still be safe. You are not going to get 50+ mph in a 33" boat with much reliability with a limited motor, but you can have a fast fun boat with plenty of run time. The 1800 Kv motor may work okay, but I bellieve the 2030 Kv motor will get hot - especially in the summer - unless you limit run time.

so a M445 on the 1800kv sounds like it could work just fine and maybe mid 40's, but on the 2030kv motor could be pushing things...

You can run a 45mm prop on 4s with a 2200kv motor provided it is a efficient motor design and equipment is getting cooling. Not sure if the UL-1 motor would be my choice though. You must have proper cooling and normal esc timing at a minimum. Are you thinking 5 min run times or longer?

The little 2030 motor is really too small for a boat that size and requires a prop too small for efficiency if motor temps are to be kept under control. Been there done that as have others, although I stopped before I actually burned one up. Others were not so lucky. That motor works well on a smaller hull like the FE-30 although you can easily prop it too big and burn it up - club members have done that. Why risk burning up a motor when a milder one works better? Kv is not the only parameter for choosing a motor.

Sounds like a winner to me.

                  uh well lets see...
I used to run my heavy DF33 that I bought from Tyler using a AQ1800 motor and it did good with a X445 prop
changed to a UL-1 2030kv motor and it went lots faster and my temps were only 115* on the motor and about a 100* on a T180 esc
and I pulled less amps with the AQ2030
maybe its the Colorado air? I don't know but it worked good

                  Yeah I agree bro
may take this to the races this weekend just to test and tune it..
run a couple laps with the AQ1800 and a couple laps with the AQ2030, with the M445 prop as I lost my X445...

Also worth trying is the Tenshock cnc aluminum 45mm prop.

Can't get a link right now but OSE, Kintec, FC, and Ebay have carried them, usually referred to as a cnc prop.

I ordered the 43mm and the 45mm tonight
I'm going to setup this Hydro for LSH and run the UL-1 motor with the 43mm CNC prop and check temps
then try my hand at racing this weekend

                              thank you very much!
