Run time question

This is his boat he got,
(120a esc and Tacon 3674) it ran 40-45mph consistently on 5s. With the right motor and esc this would be a great boat for high speeds and still be stable.

not sure about the esc handling it but I would try a X450 prop
around 25000rpms on 4s with that motor

but back to the OP
I would guess about 5-6min with the 225 prop on those packs listed

Being that im new I figured start out with this setup then wack it out later I tried the UL 1st and learned how short run times are im used to runing 30 to 45 min on 1 battery with my cars depending on track So I figured run the smaller set up and learn some more about control

Hey dereckg, very smart idea about learning like you are, some people just want to go as fast as they can from the start and end up burning stuff up and getting frustrated and quitting the FE boat hobby rather quickly. Please don't try to compare what you do w cars and try to relate it to boats, there is nothing in RC that even remotely uses as much power as boats. I've been racing RC cars competitively on a national level for over 25 years and boats now for 6 or so, my craziest setup in an RC car is my 1/8 electric on road converted Mugen MRX4X, I get 7+ minutes on a 4S 6400 mah the car does in the high 70's on a full race setup, I get 15-18 minutes on a full race 1/8 buggy setup. For comparison my N2 rigger uses over 6000 mah in about a minute and 15 seconds, My P-rigger uses almost the same in a little less time. My p mono uses 5000 in 6 laps and so on and so on. keep doin what you're doin, small increments of speed, keep your eyes on your temps and run times and have fun. The best thing you can do is keep a written log of your runs, prop, runtime, temps, each time you run and then log how much you put back into the batts after charging. I did this when i started and it helped me immensely, now I write setups directly inside the hull of the boat w/ a sharpie, (I have over 20 race boats and 20+ more mess around boats) so writing in the hull is really helpful especially if i take the prop off one boat to try on another.

Will do I like to write down set ups for my cars so it only makes sense to do the same for my boats . I have 35 10th scale cars nitro and electric. Have 5th scale xrc with a 26cc and 2 kyosho 7th scale nitros 14 boats and a 8th scale e revo with a 2200 castle 8th scale associated mt4.6

No problems using car motors in a boat as long as the size and kv are appropriate. No difference really a motor is a motor, it doesn't care what it doing as long as the amp draw is within reason. The only stopper may be a lack of cooling jackets depending on the motor.
Buddy of mine has a JAE rigger that screams on a tacon "car motor" 3674 size.
Plenty of people including myself are running some of the Castle finned car motors in our boats and having just as much luck and speed as the non finned boat motors.

I just traded 2 brushed motors for a brushless 3800 kv castle which I kno is made for more torque in which boats have alot of also have a spare 8th scale 2200 I was saving to use in case my erevo had any problems Thinkin both motors gona end up in a boat
