Connectors style question?

I have to switch the manufacturer that I was using to make my 5.5 connectors. They are no longer in Biz.

The new manufacturer offers two styles, one that similar to what I was currently selling with a hole in the back.
One with a notch in the end. See the picture.

Personally it would make it easier to use a bullet with the slot.

But I'm wondering what you guys think?

Definitely the slot. Easier soldering. Faster soldering. No more solder flowing over the male end because too much solder was used. Newbie friendly.

Agreed, also better for a hydra 240 with twin leads.

up to you Steven,BUT also look at the CONTACT area of the slotted one as opposed to the
one with the thru hole in it. There is another manufacturer (name escapes me) that offers the slotted
one with the same area contact as the thru hole ones.

, the slotted one might be easier to use, however, I loved the discontinued version for one BIG reason: it is so nice to make parallel connectors out of them. I use a brass rod ( K&S) and connects three of them---soldered of course. One FEMALE flanked by two Males and the other is the exact reverse.

I use slot style connectors with larger 8 gauge wire, but works good with any size wire.

Deff a place for both, as theirs those that prefer the slight ease of soldering the notch ones + those that need to make paralel or series conectors & need the other ones with the holes in the sides.

What's important to me is that the prongs or fingers on the male connectors are thick (strong), and that they are compatible with the connectors that I have been buying from OSE.

Well perhaps we need to discuss soldering techniques to do either connector correctly. On top of that what type of solder do you use? Low temp electrical solder melts at a pretty low temp and can soften during use. I believe it is harder to use but I try to use hobby grade silver solder which is less likely to soften or melt during use. The trick is to not melt the insulation of the wire close to the connector. I attended a model show and saw a guy explain that we should wrap the end of the wire to be inserted into the bullet connector to make a snug fit before soldering. Then to tin both the inside of the bullet and the wrapped end of the wire. I am sure the most exacting modelers might do something like this.... are you one?
I might try to shoot some pictures to show you what they are suggesting. I prefer the solid connector but no hole.

I dont think its too big an issue which ones to carry Steve. Few guys build more than one or two sets of "Y" adapters for their fleet. I mean whats the point? Your going run the whole fleet out on the water at once? Each person only needs 2 or 3 sets of adapters in their inventory so its a no brainer. Most of everyones needs for bullets is going to be for motors, speedos or batteries. Not for parallel adatpters. Carry both but I doubt the need for the ones with holes outweighs the need for the ones with slots. Which I like better IMHO since they allow for better solder mass retention. Just my dos centavos based on the current trend of global economic trends.
