Finally getting around to actually running my hpr115....

Hi guys, you may remember me from a few year back, got a hpr115, got advice on motors speed controllers etc, but had a lot of family problems, one thing lead to another picked up mountain biking... boat was left with a cover over it for months untouched...

    its a hpr115,
all hpr kit, rudder drives etc...
neu 1521/1y/s - had to check the box they came in... L
    as26-150bl controllers..
    turnigy 6s 500mah 40c...

    propshop 47mm 2 bladers and 45mm 3 bladers...

i maidend the boat only once, had a few problems in the fact, the boat wouldn't plane at all, just lacked the power to push it over... it was going 15mph tops?

i need any advice i can get, the batterys have been left for probably 2 years, but they never actually got properly used... will they be ok or do i need to shell out for new stuff,

honestly i don't know what is what anymore any advice appreciated.

I am a repeat HPR thread lurker. I'm just too cheap to shell out the $$ for one. Hard for me to imagine one sitting on a shelf collecting dust.
I haven't tried to revive batteries that have been stored for that long. Maybe this thread will help:

If you ever decide to get back into mountain biking, let me know. I'll send you my mailing address.

i still ride, sponsored and race enduro... i recently got my cadetship to royal carribean cruise lines so thought for old times sake id fire it up... i did toy with selling it but i thought id loose too much of my investment..

one thing lead to another and it just sat there... if it had of worked when i started setting it up, would of been a different story but...

from the first run too, the data logger recorded about 45 amps max draw... if this means anything

I'm still pretty much a novice. I did notice the eagletree and was going to ask you if you logged the runs. Is that 45a per side? What was your pack voltage? How are the batteries wired? I can't quite figure that out from your photo.

I don't have a lot of cat experience, but this thing should be flying with dual neu 1521's! Are your prop's cavitating? Sure sounds like it. Have you checked the voltage on the lipo's? My guess is it is one of those two. Wait until this evening and others who have experience with that boat will probably have some usefull information.

I am working on a similar HPR with a very similar power system. at 45A something is wrong. Try the 45mm 3 blade props, these should get you to 60 easily. At your settings correct in the esc? Did you calibrate the throttle? Do the motors sound like they are running fast? They should be around 30k under load. Stingers parallel with the bottom surface?

1577kV motor right? It should be right in the sweet spot on 6S.

Edit: RaceMechaniX, I didn't see your post when I started mine. It's a good idea to work from input to output when troubleshooting.

it's 45amp per side... batteries are 2, 3s in series...

the 3 blade props were on when it was drawing 45amps... it could possibly have been caveatting but there rather big props it gets the 22... voltage ill see if i have any more old pics on here

i believe the throttle and esc are correct, i spoke to mischa (who makes the esc) when i was setting it up..

Is your eagletree setup to log throttle from your rx?

Hey where did u find those esc's ? They are always out of stock I have dying to get my hands on them. I am doing a Hpr build as well, and for now I am using the castle 200 hv's until I get those as controllers. If you ever want t sell or trade please let me know.
For your issues it sounds like something is way off do you have any type of rpm sensor t see what the motors are spinning at ?

Thats really strange that it doesnt want to fly.
Ive looked at your pictures and cant see something wrong.

I would reprogramm both ESC, just to make sure your settings are correct.
If there is a Low voltage Cutoff programmed, remove it.
Then test again and see what happens. I would think that if the batteries cant deliver the power and are dropping quick in voltage and the ESc has a LVC programmed its kicking in directly and therefore minimizing the power.

If the LVC is off, and the batteries are not good it will at least start running good and then drop in speed. If thats the case you know the batteries are ready for disposal.
If it runs ok for a few minutes, then it were your ESC not programmed correctly.

                            Let us know what happens!

                            Cheers,
                            Remmie

@Chrisg81983 i bought them a long time ago, the first i ran in my drifter, maybe 5 times... the second i got like a week before they released the 200 model, i wanted to keep them the same so got the 150 again... always loved them in my drifter

@Prop-a-Gator im 99% sure it is, ill see if i can dig out the cables and stuff and hook it all up, i really need some help with this eagletree thing... does anybody know if they have a mac specific program yet? the only computer i have running windows is a mac pro through bootcamp/parallels...

@Remmie81 i will try reprogramming the esc's i will but the screen of my settings up for you all to criticize...

which props would you try? the 47mm 2 bladers or 45mm 3 blades?

won't be able to run till monday at earliest as somebody reversed into my defender...
