I have a Chihuahua and he is as smart as a whip. He amazes me with how many words he knows/understands. He's got 10 toys and knows each one by name. But he hates my RC boats and truck. Ha, now you've got me talking about my "son", got a few hours? lolComment

My two cents, I ride motorcycles and some believe "loud pipes save lives" which is totally ridiculous. All this does is get the non riding community in an uproar. Years ago Louisiana imported South American Nutria for the fur trade, enter the animal rights folks, fur trade died and now the Nutria are so plentiful they are considered varmits and damage levee systems by burrowing into them to make their den. We now have a bounty system that pays something like five bucks per tail of nutria. One can buy a trappers license and go out and shoot all the nutria he wants, cut off the tail and leave the rest for the alligators and other scavengers. The place I intend to run boats has plenty turtles, a few ducks that stay year round and an alligator that set up home since he has a couple nutria in the area for food. We feed the ducks to keep them around, but I figure a few slow runs and they'll retire to the bank and watch the show. If not, I'll figure something out, hate to run off the ducks since they do reproduce and are Mallards and a couple wood ducks. Of course the every now and then there is one less baby duck, the alligator takes care of that. With that said I do intend to be considerate and not intentionally harm wildlife or run the boat at six in the morning on Saturday to get the neighbors mad.Comment

I don't know what the hell you guys are talking about, your mindreading, lol. I do think though that 99.999% of us boaters do not take any pleasure in disturbing or harming anything, be it a turtle, a dog, or even a fish. I am a fisherman, if you take the envrionmentalist view then that is pretty cruel to the fish eh? But I am taking extra caution now around fisherman or anyone else using the water. I try to stay as far away as possible. And if necessary I will wait or not even run. I have the luxury of a small lake just across the road, so I sure don't want to get banned from there,Comment

I think most members know my position on this matter, but as Tony and Jim stated we do have to be ambasadors for our sport....newbies be very cautious where you run your RTR boat and if I see that old hag again whose dog lost me about $600.00 of equipment.....she will be in the pond!!!

What I want to know is... Since when does infringing upon their privileges give them the authority to infringe upon my rights?"A quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough."

How NOT to be a good ambassador, get yourself, and other r/c boaters kicked off the lake, or worse! Posted here by *someone* 5/21/12, and I quote;
"man, it sounded like a gun going off when this rammed full speed into the side of the plastic Wilderness Systems kayak. The guy in the kayak (the boats owner) went into the lake and the boat buckled in the middle. What a fun day at the lake that was!"
End quote, I'm sorry, but IMHO, there can be no excuse for this to happen! Well maybe one, submarine kayak performing emergency surfacing drills.Comment

Thousands of square miles of Public lands have been designated "Wilderness Areas" under pressure from psudo-environmentalists. Hikers only - no bicycles or even wheelchairs alowed.
There's an old saying: What starts out Westcoast soon moves East. The eco-freaks are coming to your area soon (or they already there?) Maybe it's time to contact your congressmen/women to de-fang the EPA and protect your access to your public lands & lakes. JIMJIM MARCUM: NAMBA 777; EX? 1. Rottwielers are among the most intelligent and trainable dog breeds. (Doesn't mean anything about their owners one way or the other.) 2. Loud motorcycle pipes are surely unpleasant for everyone but the rider. And obviously people who have them plain don't care. That, by the way, has nothing to do with whether you like motorcycles.Comment
