At least your country is not about to bring in a carbon tax that will see the last of our manufacturing industry go off-shore. Our electricity, gas, fuel and every thing else that uses power is about to go up another 10-15%. Our $ is already dropping.
Save your pocket change guys, you maybe able to buy the worlds biggest island for less than the price of a big macc soon.

Final thought. Anyone who thinks you can please everyone is delusional. I respect nature and people when they respect me. It's mutual. Sometimes you have to stand up and tell people to *!***!***!***!** off. Otherwise the complainer walks away with a bigger ego and a *!***!***!***!**ty grin. Can't please everyone... I was doing nothing wrong in my case, and being nice to this idiot wasn't gonna change the situation. She wasn't gonna suddenly change her mind and tell me my boats are ok to run cause I'm so nice... I tried being nice.. Doesn't work.

While it's easy to take this thread into a discussion in the realm of eco-preservationists vs. sportsmen/hobbyists, let's remember where Jim is going with this. Since FE boats, unlike other r/c categories, need a decent water "venue" to run, it would put a big dent in our hobby to have more and more ponds become off limits because of misunderstandings between "us" and "them". While, in my opinion, a fair amount of "tree huggers" suffer from a deficit of intelligent fact , the damage caused by their agenda is palpable and is an accident waiting to happen. [ not long ago in Arizona a citizen counted the baby ducks before and after an FE run and made a formal complaint to the city council after the count went down after the run. The local FE reps had to respond in a meeting.]

Regardless of our personal beleifs or eco-philosophies we need to take the high road and become ambassadors striving through positive means to , if necessary, negotiate our right to use public ponds. This can often become an uphill battle, made all the more difficult by having factual reality on our side while negotiating with a less informed public.

It's wierd reading this, and understandable from both POV's. No one likes to see turtles killed and no FE'er likes to (intentionally) kill turtles. Turtles are pets to a lot of children and that's a big part of the "problem". They're cute. If it was some ugly piece of blob feeding on kittens no one would have a problem with the occasional blob getting chopped in half.

In Sweden (where yours truly live) we have no turtles, 230.000 lakes open for any- and everyone. No privately owned lakes. And all those lakes, excluding the shoreline which 99% are free for everyone to use, planted in a piece of land roughly the size of California. We do have birds though I don't mess with them. I have the feeling they will just tell mr. Huge White Tailed Eagle who'll pick my boat up and drop it on a rock somewhere.

Sweden is awesome. My great grandparents came here from Sweden. Nice place.
I agree, people don't care about ugly animals... Lol. The whole dolphins being trapped in fishing nets? What about the tuna they're fishing for? Oh yeah, tuna aren't cute

So I take it that there is no turtle season like we have up here? We can catch snappers with a normal fishing permit.
Can run boats on any public water which is most of Canada, nothing anybody can do about it unless you are endangering somebody.
Unless you are running at night the cops won't even investigate a noise complaint on any water a full sized boat can legally run in.
About the only restrictions are in actual parks or designated nature preserves. Crown Land you can pretty much do whatever you feel like doing as long as you don't hurt anybody.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

We send those types to a few designated communities in B.C. Luckily Alberta has a shoot to kill policy so they have a hard time escaping back east!

Is that why we have so many stuffy, tree hugging hippies here. But how did they get the money to live in Vancouver.Must have good severance packages back east.

                          Hi Guy's ,

Maybe we should arrange for Left Wing Ringpirates ( Greenies ) to take the place of the poor little Turtles ( lol ) ....

Nothing to do with turtles but the thread has developed a "theme". Anyway, I was running at my pond and a guy with two large dogs didnt like my boat, or his dogs attraction to it. He is 20 something and some kind of muscle head. I'm pushin' 55 and skinny, lol. He moved from where he was with his dogs to directly on top of me, I couldnt believe it. When I finaly said " please keep your dogs off me" he actualy KICKED water on me and my boat which had the hatch open. He kicked water at me!!!, like " F U buddy". well, as much as I try to be a good ambassador I lost it on him. This attracted attention and the police were called even. They told me that I had a right to run my boat, and they had a right to walk the dogs. But the dogs are supposed to be leashed. So, now I have made myself "known" and there are those who would like to see me banned from my running pond.
