I took the Daytona for a spin today. I dropped the strut down about 3mm. That lifted the sponsons about 1 or 2mm off the table. I wanted to see if having the strut up too high was causing my boat to run wet. I also moved the COG back to 9-1/8".

Well lowering the strut definitely lifted the rear. I'm not sure it's got the boat aired out any better. It still doesn't look like vids of the nicely tuned cats that look like they are balanced on only the prop as they fly. The handling is much more skittish in this trim. Any disturbance and she wants to start bouncing from sponson to sponson. I think I'll raise the strut halfway back to where it was. Maybe move the COG back further? I may try a larger, lower pitch prop as well.

I am running the RHobbies Godspeed Cat on 4s with a 4074 2000kv and I notice a fair amount of prop walk once it gets up on plane. I just set my steering trim to be neutral while on plane and let it steer wherever it wants at slow speed. It's only off plane after Lipo cut off.
Son to me: It's never fast enough is it Dad?
Me in reply: Now you understand RC son!!!

M445 on and strut moved up about 3mm from the bottom of the sponson, handling is much better at higher speed but still getting a bit twitchy although it was fairly choppy.

Next I am going to offset the rudder and ordered one of these:

Should help with the skeg at the bottom

I saw that too Matt. Looked interesting. Wasn't sure what it would do though. I assume it would add a little directional stability at the cost of a little extra drag perhaps?

Yeah I just added it to an order I had already placed with fightercat so thought why not try it, will report back how it performs

offset rudder is on! i used some 3mm threaded stainless rod cut to size and two pieces of 4mm brass with some nyloc nuts either side its simple and about as cheap as your going to get! Its also rock solid once its tightened up

              Heres some pics

First impressions where that it seemed much better both in handling and stability although it was a flat calm night, only issue which is unique to me is that the extra waterpickup in the rudder pivot doesnt work when at full speed as its not getting any prop wash and is too high so i am going to have to move it down slightly.
