    Questions for the Li-Po Experienced Users

    i picked up 2 li-po packs off ebay from Hong Kong

    One of them is a "Energy E.C Power" 14.8v 4000mah- 4 cell
    and the other is a :Energy E.C Power" 14.8v 3000 mah 10c- 3 cell

    my question is..

    How do i find out the "C" # for the 4000mah Li-Po

    and what exactly does this "C" # mean

    i know it has something to do with amp draw or something?
    am i correct on that?

    And also. i know there is a number like "2S and 3S" and so on, how do i figure that out?

    What is 10c capable of?

    Well first off, according to the photos you posted you have a 4S (14.8 volt) 4,000 mAh pack and a 4S (14.8 volt) 3,000 mAh pack. They are BOTH 4S, but they have different capacities. The capacity is what is called the "C" for the pack.

    They are rated at 10C for discharge, or 10 times the capacity.

    So pack 1 - 4.0 Ah (4,000 mAh) you can discharge at 40 amps

    The 3.0 Ah pack (3,000 mAh) you can discharge at 30 amps (10C).

    "S" refers to the number of cells in the pack. 1S = 3.7 vlts nominal voltage for a Lipo cell.

    2S = 7.4 volts
    3S = 11.1 volts
    4S = 14.8 volts.

    This site will help some too:

            Hyperion EOS 5idp AC/DC with a Apache 1-5 cell Smart Balancer and Guard 505

            im not getting a voltage reading, i only get a volt reading during and after charging is complete.

            when i plug in a pack i get the options of charge rate and such, but the voltage doesnt show untill the charge starts and it will continue to show when the charge is complete up untill i unplug the battery from the charger

            can i plug the battery straight into the charger via the deans style connector? or is that a no no?

              How does your balancer connect up? Does it plug into the Hyperion??

              You can get the pack voltage using a simple voltmeter.

                Balancer plugs into the charger Via a positive and negative banana plug
                i hook the battery up to a battery tester, tester has a 15v setting so i used that and the needle was pinned on "Good" way past the "Replace" mark

                  I suspect that the balancer you are using is not allowing the charger to "see" the proper pack voltage. I don't know anything about that brand of balancer.

                  Hyperion chargers require that the battery be plugged into the charger and the balancer plugs into the balancer port.

                  This page shows how Hyperion chagrers connect:

                    My charger doesnt work that way.

                    I dont have any other ports besides for banana plugs and a data cable
                    i cant hook up the pack via balancer and run the balancer to a port other then the port with the 2 banana plugs

                    this is my charger- http://rajiten.info/shopping/Data/Pr...98195705_1.jpg

                    Think this is what i need?-

                          Yes, I see that now. I looked a the manual. I still think that the balancer you are using is the issue. I would try getting the Astro Flight Blinky balancer. Then plug the packs directly into the charger and let the balancer do its thing.

                            curious as to how my charger would hook up to that?

                            or how would i hook my charger up to my lipo if that balancer isnt used while charging?

                            The 2nd link your provided is telling me that balancer is specifically designed for A123 batteries

                              You connect the Blinky to the balance taps on the packs. You plug the battery directly into the charger. The Blinky balances while you charge.

                              The second link was just meant for a picture. Get the Lipo version for your packs. If you only charge 1 pack at a time, then you only need one Blinky.

                              Here is the correct link on that site. Again, mostly for the photo:
