I'm fat and 53 and I have to pretty much roll out of the raft.
My rescue boat is the style with the pvc and foam arms and I found it really helped when I painted the ends of the arms bright fluorescent orange I added little aerials on the ends out of zip ties and orange fish floats. It really helps seeing which way your pointed when it's way out there.

Nice. I made a similar design but my slip should have been wider so I had more margin of error. The shore line is the safest place to perform a rescue. But after sinking two I wanted to try another way, it has been working for me, but I agree its not for everyone. I'll add that u should always use a life vest as a disclaimer.
