Tony
I was taught years ago to solder the esc directly to the motor wires on high amp set ups. Worked very well in intense high amp setups. Doesn't take much time at all to solder or de-solder for replacement. Eliminates alot of issues.
See you in a few weeks.

I like the looks of the Hobbyking 6mm connectors.

Those little 6MM HK connectors are Fraken TIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used those on a couple new motors and ESC's for a retro-fit on a twin mono of mine.Comment

well tony if your not going to swap out motors all the time hardwire them together, i never used a connector between my performance brushed motors ( i know they had a place to solder) and these were way lower amp draw applications than what your pulling and duration- its an optionComment

Test #1 with 8mm's
Back from the lake with the Cyberstorm rigged for P-Offshore. 3 min test with mild prop (boat needs to run 4 1/2 minutes minimum in offshore, thus mellow prop to keep current draw and mah consumption under control). 8's were barely warm. Next test will come soon with the IB34 rigged for P-Mono and a big wheel on the back pulling much more current. Will post results soon.2008 NAMBA P-Mono & P-Offshore Nat'l 2-Lap Record Holder; '15 P-Cat, P-Ltd Cat 2-Lap

Tony, thanks for starting this thread. I've had three trips down to the local lake with my Apparition and all three times the 5mm bullets desoldered. All 3 wires twice, and after reducing flex shaft drag, only one fryed on the last run. I was hesitant to go with 8mm bullets with the assumption that the relatively small guage motor wires would still heat up enough to desolder the connectors. I'll change to 8mm bullets & give it a try. Thanks bro. JIM

I'm sure that is a contributing factor, but IMHO the lower resistance (of the 8mm bullets) is the main reason they don't heat up as quickly as smaller connectors. I agree that soldering the wires is best, if that is suitable.Legend 36 sailboat, KMB Powerjet Ed Hardy Viper, ABC jet pwrd BBY Oval Master, ABC Hobby Jetski, NQD Tear Into's, HK Discovery 500, MickieBeez pwrd Jet Rigger!, Davette/Gravtix jet sprint, KMB Powerjet Pursuit, NQD pwrd Jet Catamaran!,Steam pwrd African Queen, Sidewinder airboat, Graupner Eco PowerComment
