How deep are the sponsors below the tub? I swear I remember that looking really tall.

HAHA Scary when I ask questions like that aint it?
The little RedWing Whip is mutilated. Opened it up like a clam late in the season. I was thinking about doing some weird science to it so I was on a research and destroy mission. I'll measure Freds up as soon as I get back to his house. I have a bunch of drywall work to do out there anywho.
I need a new LSH boat but with all the other expenses I have for the season it's just not going to be possible. Hence......mutilate existing barge to achieve terminal velocity.Noisy personComment

Mee TOOOO!!!! Have a sort of built whip and a Phil Thomas (version prior to the stealth) in the boat room. Really don't have much interest in finishing either. If you want any of these or have any other ideas, let me know. Might I dare suggest a co-operative build for both of us?Comment

I am thinking 3/4" deep...not sure though.
Phil is coming out with a new FE hull. A modified Stealth
GEEZ, go away for a week and have alot of catching up to do.
Thanks to Brian who can read rules and wants to race, he saw a small width problem with the Stealth. Looks like all that has to be done is remove the air trap that is there now and glue on a 1/8th square stick just an 8th further out on the bottom corner and apply a little filler.
I will be updating the hull this spring to make it better for FE racing. I think a bit longer hull andengine well wider and deeper in the front for the lipos being used. The boat will look the same and same flat angles on the front sponsons. Bit wider transom too.
The boat was designed for nitro and FE but I think I just read the NAMBA nitro sport rules.
This is the problem you have when the rules are not consistant. We have the same stuff with strut positions, different for 20 and 40 nitro sports.
The same thing went on with my SuperSport45 it was run in Namba for many years and then some smart guy read the rules so we changed the belly pan depth to acceptable 1/2 inch for sport 40. The mod just made the boat race better. Next season the rule was voted out HA.Comment

HAHA I just realized my typo! Sponsors below the tub? What the heck does that mean? I was looking for that vertical dimension on the Stealth.
I had already accepted that I wasn't going to race LSH this summer but that frees me up to experiment in any way I see fit. I can't race everything anyway. I'm already covering 4 classes. That plus being co-responsible for running 7 races. Then trecking to Seville in the fall. Throw in every Wed practices. Then there are two races up here that aren't ours that I plan to hit. Then maybe just maybe hit SAW while my wife isn't looking. I'm getting burned out just thinking about it. Maybe I don't have time to even think about a new LSH.
I'll strap a brazier to my cranium, hook up the jumper cables, and see what spits out the other end.
There's really 3 boats that dominate LSH. Stealth, Insane, Whip. Any one of those can be the faster on any given Sunday too from what I've seen. There are exceptions of course. With time, tweaking, and some well placed mods any of them can be fast but out of the box these three are pretty close in performance. Seems to depend on what the water is like on a particular day. Each of those have attributes I like and don't like. MMEU has all three in the club. Need to go on a fact finding mission.Noisy personComment

Terry,
That is why the PT hulls tend to "fly" more (or dance) than the whip hulls. These are my observations only, but I will get a warning before my PT blows off. "most" of the Whips that I've watched give you little if any warning they are going to blow over.
Camera battery was dead. I will get you those pictures this morning.
Later,
